This... is probably a very dumb question but is it possible to automatically pause game on events? It doesn't have that little button on the bottom right hand side to click like for other pop-ups and such. Help?

yeah id love some sort of customizable menu where you could select when it could auto pause, im currently in a game where i need to recover about 40k manpower before making my next real move and thats going to take 5+ years
unless im mistaken, this exact thing is in game, theres a menu where you can change what notifications pop up, and when it pauses. I remember watching a Lets Play Austria game where the guy set it to auto pause when anything happened within the HRE.
No it isn't, there's only a setting for "when an event happens to us" which will give you a popup after the event decision is made, not when the event pops up. It's very weird that there isn't a setting for this, especially when you consider CK2 pauses on events automatically.
ah so thats what the message setting thing does lol, i had just looked in the game settings and didnt see, thanks
well actually it seems like for the events, it pauses after you make the decision, which is kind of pointless, not when the pop up occurs
all good, I believe a lot of people change the message settings based on what nation they are playing and what they need to know. too much effort IMO
