There's already been a thread about having one race only options. There's probably going to be mods for this in the end.

To be honest I do not think genders will be defined for any species (except humans). Honestly I don't think it makes much sense to do so for any species except for human as well. I don't mind people having a sexist goverment in a computer game, but I don't think the dev time is justifiable since it will only affect one species portrait.

Totes on board for that, although in my first game I'll be RPing an immortal human empress. (Imagine Imperium of WOman if that Horus Heresy hadn't f'cked things up).

(But then again I'm going to mod this game to pieces, humans will all be equivalent to immortal psykers for my first playthrough)

A way to do this to do this for every other race than human would basically be to allow to restrict some leader roles to a specefic array of names. This would mean that I could call my Bird generals Sharp Claw and my Bird scientists Observing eye. While people who want to gender spereate their leader roles can call their generals Liam and scientists Diana. (Not really the best examples but the idea gets through)

Like the title says, many Arthropoid colony forming species (ants, bees, termites, that sort of thing) are primarily matriarchal societies, the few males that exist are mainly to be used for impregnating the hive queens, and every other role is filled with sterile female offspring of the queen.

Can we set certain roles for leaders to only be eligible for females (or males) of your species?
This would be more "true-to-life" for many of these types of societies, or make for a fun modifier on a different phenotype (Amazonian Fennek society or something).

The queen's a prisoner, the female worker ants are basically slaves, the female soldiers are nothing more than expandable stock, which in lots of ant species can't even feed themselves. The males are prisoners too. Although you could argue this is the only pure form of Matriarchy as the Hive Queen ( Mother of all --> Matriarchy -> Rulership of Mum ) is the most important thing and all the other females are sterile and expendable just like the males.

Amazonians are gynarchists IIRC.

I do agree tho this is somewhat important for RP'ing. And easy to implement AFAIK
