Is it possible to get two Trotskies?

Hi!

I was just thinking: is it possible to get Trotsky as both the leader of Communist Mexico AND of the Soviet Uprising?

Since Man the Guns, he has been a possible leader for Mexico, but I have never been able to attempt this, as AI SOV will pretty much always do the purge, and I don’t know if you can force the AI to accept Trotsky as Mexico.

Does anyone have any idea?

No, or at least not if things are working correctly. Trotsky will prioritize taking his spot as general secretary over vacationing in Mexico.

I vaguely remember they said Trotsky has an event to hand over power to his lieutenant in Mexico should there be a civil war in Russia

There is at least one typo in the script which breaks what is supposed to be a check on Trotsky's status. However, I'm reasonably sure that this check is redundant so it shouldn't matter. That said, there are a whole lot of fiddly edge cases with the way the Mexican Presidency is scripted in general so it's difficult to confirm if no such cases exist at all; certainly, events exist to handle Trotsky returning to Russia after having been invited to join the Mexican government though.

ETA: Having examined the relevant events, I believe it is technically possible (albeit very unlikely) to get the "Trotsky arrives" event after Trotsky has already taken over in the USSR (but only because this is a MTTH event; the MTTH is 3 months starting August 1936 so it is very unlikely the Soviets can get Trotsky before it fires. But averages being what they are, it isn't impossible). However, even if Trotsky is invited to join the government in this scenario he will almost immediately "return to Russia" removing him again as an advisor, and in any case he will not be allowed to become President while he is already leader of the USSR.
