Ok, I'm not an expert player, but I was so content to see that by extending the Maginot Line with France over the whole borders the Germans never crossed it and we eventually won the war. So I thought that I could export the same idea in Poland. No way. After 3 years of intensive building (some fortresses reached level 7) I was crushed anyway. So, is there anybody who has seriouslyfought Germany by commanding the Poles? Thanks!

Instead of using guides like these cowards over there, I like to just experiment.

Try what you think is a victory maker.

If it fails, try something else.

That's how you make HoI2 fun.

Since Poland is really a Flat Country, they'res really no terrain in Poland for you to use against Germans.
So, make a Maginot line!

Build Level 10 Forts along your border with Germany(DO NOT BUILD ANY FORTS AROUND EAST PRUSSIA), and research Advanced Construction to cut the time down in time for the Blitz.

I have won once using infantry spam techniques, but I've also lost once using the same in the latest patch (albeit after a long fight).

It can be done, anyway, but there is literally no space for wastage when it comes to production and the prussian pocket must be eliminated very quickly without the main line falling down.

Alternatively, you could win by somewhat gamey tactics such as early wars, etc (I won as Czechoslovakia once using exactly this - invading Hungary and Austria to prevent encirclement and then dragging the Poles and the Allies into the war).

I don't see the Poles menaging to repel Germany via fortresses so easily... too many provincess and not a lot of IC. Sure, it's reasonably feasible as France but Poland gets hit nearly a full year before.

There aren't that many provinces to defend, depending on how you play.
Poland has 4 (or 5, don't remember) provinces bordering Germany, excluding East Prussia which should be easy to take with overpowering the little troops there are and then you should do something about Slovakia before Germans move troops there.
so if you build good land forts, not necessarily 10 and then just put enough troops there you should be fine unless playing on hard/very hard.

Mass infantry should overcome everything. I'm sure you could get almost equal parity to the number of German infantry divisions if you skip building fortresses. You'll only be outnumbered in tanks and you won't have an airforce, but you can easily overcome those odds against the AI.
