For example, how could I change the Scottish "Earl" title to "Mormaer" so that my vassals appear as "Mormaer Robert of Buchan"?
You could add it to any of the localisation files, or make one of your own.Which file is it in specifically? That's all gobbledygook to me unfortunately!
Scottish count/earl weren't technically the same as mormaers, but nevermind. You could add it to any of the localisation files, or make one of your own.
If you make one of your own, make sure to start it with this line: #CODE;ENGLISH;FRENCH;GERMAN;;SPANISH;;;;;;;;;x
To change the name of a Scottish count (earl), you'd simply write this:
count_scottish;Mormaer;Mormaer;Mormaer;;Mormaer;;;;;;;;;x
The field correspond to the different languages as indicated by the first line of the file.
Make sure to save it as a .csv file.
This can be done for any culture or religion (culture takes precedence over religion). It can also be done for females by inserting female, like this: "count_female_scottish". Do note that "female" has to go before the culture.
The different levels of titles are baron, count, duke, king, and emperor.
