Let me start out with the fact that i don't believe in coincidences.

While I was playing as queen of Ireland(had no male heirs), I believe I conceived my first son with one of my eunuchs(i got from a merchant). My evidence is circumstantial and don't know how to find out for sure. Presumably I can find out in save files somewhere?

My evidence for eunuch child:
Reason 1. My first born son and only heir is of Ethiopia culture(I'm Frankish my husband is Polish).
Reason 2. My eunuch is Ethiopian
Reason 3. There are no other Ethiopians in my court/kingdom.
Reason 4. My son isn't heir to my husbands duchy in Poland
Reason 5. my son isn't on my husbands list of children(as well as one of my daughters, shes listed as Irish),
Reason 6. I have the lustful trait(don't know if this matters)

My evidence for a non eunuch child:
Reasons 1 to 98. Hes a eunuch.........
Reason 99. I had no direct events to elope with anyone. I've never seen bastards to show up with out direct events.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm highly suspicious and I don't know how i will feel when I'll be a Ethiopian king of Ireland, with a Frankish Mother and a so called Polish Father.
Thanks for any help in enlightening me into what might have happened or what caused the bug.

Well, at least it used to happen with Celibate people. Sure, they've only got -1000% fertility, while Eunuchs have -5000%, but still...

forget everything. if there want a event, it simply isnt from him. but you can check extremly easy. go to the child. it should show the parents at the part where it shows all close relatives(children, parents ect.)

basicly, dont look for so called "evidence". only hard facts(events ect.) influence things. another possibility is him impregnationg you before he was turned a eunuch, or a bug with a mod or so.

Normally if the father is known, you see him on the child's window even in the case of a bastard child. It happens sometimes that characters can have a bastard child whose father is not known. In this case don't try to look for evidences anywhere, and stick to the idea that she had some kind of not so proper adventure with a local peasant. That's at least how I understand fatherless children in the game. But if in the child tab, the eunuch isn't the father, then he is not the father.

If you cant find conclusive answers in the game itself, just check the save file. Type charinfo 1 into the console and check the son's details, which should now display his ID number. Write it down and look it up on the save file with your text viewers search functions, you'll find all details of the character, hidden or otherwise, recorded here. His father's ID number should be there, and if it matches the one of the enuch, there's your answer.

If the enuch really fathered a child, I'd take that save file to paradox, cause thats certainly a bug.

If your heir is of ethiopian culture, it is because you made your eunuch his guardian/tutor.

Yea that's what i done (feel silly now). I didn't know that tutors could affect culture. learn something new everyday.

Another thing my two children that have different cultures than me and my husband, are not listed as my husband children when on his portrait. But when I click on their portrait their father is rightfully listed as there father. I now think this is a bug. I will put it in the bug forums when I'm not tired and have more info (still getting over staying up all night watching the us election).

There aren't many places in the Internet where you can ask questions like "can an eunuch have children?" and "why can't I kill my children any more?" and be serious about it.

Just finished a book which covered Sima Qian, the 2nd century BC Chinese historian who apparently had children before he chose castration as an alternative to death.

but well.. if castration really gives "only" -5000% fertility, a pregnancy WILL happen. and it won't be a real bug, either, since even a 5000% lower chance of conception is a chance >0 (no matter what the initial chance was...), so it has to happen sooner or later.

Swear this happened to a duke I had castrated that he had no children prior to the snip, fast forward a few years later and he has two daughters. Married the heir off to a dynasty member and had the bloke murdered.

Sometimes a wife might be pregnant at the time of snippage, and a child is then born within the standard nine months. might be a combination at least.
