Is it important how many people live in a province?

there live 3,33 million people in this province, is it important for something?

But so manpower is tied to the region and not to the single province. What happens if you occupy some provinces and not the region? For example you take London from the enemy but not the near cities, they will still have a megalopolis with 12 IC?

Maybe it is assumed that IC is distrubuted evenly within a region so IC output per region will be multiplied with the % of controlled provinces?

I have seen this question multiple times in this forum, but havent found an answer yet. It would be nice if they covered this in a DD or in the wednesday's livestream.

Population determines how much industry you can build.

Not since they changed how industry works. Now it goes by province classification, regardless of population.
So its either still in there because that build doesn't show the new industry changes, or its still in there for other things like manpower.

I would guess that the loss of a province equals loosing the access to the manpower of it.
As soon you reconquer it, you will get acess too it again. if thats not the case, it would be a pure relict of already changed mechanics.
