I feel like Leviathan was a sign that maybe EU4 has about reached the end of possibilities. Which wouldn't really be an insult at this point, given that it's I think 10 years in now.

Yeah, I’d be down for them doing a couple more patches with QOL and especially perf improvements, and of course some content dlcs to pay for it, then wrap it up. I think the game is in a good spot and the devs have been pretty upfront that they’re not comfortable making major changes anymore. Probably EU5 has been in early development (most likely planning rather than coding) for a while now.

That's a good idea, but are we sure Vicy 3 is gonna be well received yet? After Leviathan and Imperator I'm a little nervous.

I think adding more flavor/missions for tags that are lacking and focusing on bugs would be well received. I hope more tags aren’t added or maybe just add formables, as long as it doesn’t affect performance.

The leaked beta has had various complaints but it is of course a beta so we'll see how much it changes
If eu5 promises actual royal family mechanics in my early modern period game then yes sounds great

It doesn't have to be good for them to learn from it. That's part of why I'd like them to wait to learn lessons from Victoria 3 before starting the next EU - so they know what works and what doesn't in their next generation of games before anything has been baked in to EU5.

You know, that's actually a really good idea. I remember they tried some makeshift character importer for CK2 you could use for EU4 that was kinda pointless and didn't do anything. But if they could develop a more immersive royal family system, they could import your CK3 character and (maybe) their immediate family into a potential EU5, which at the end of, in a perfect world, you could also import into Vicy 3 to keep it going as like a Super Campaign across 3 games.

EU5 is now a necessity. You can't keep bleeding the cow dry, and this cow is nearly dead.

While that is true, months old beta builds have a bad habit of being almost exactly the same as the final product in a lot of games these days. So I wouldn't dismiss it entirely yet.

You should keep in mind that there's a good chance EU5 won't be "EU4 but better". It might be "EU4 but for consoles".

If the eu5 project is not going to break new ground, I will not look forward to such a project. After all, every new game that comes out demands extra graphics and performance. To tell the truth, the situation I'm in is not at all suitable for me to buy a new pc. After the 1.30 update, my game performance has dropped considerably, now I will either take a break from this universe altogether or stay as a spectator.

Johan even said that features like the Imperator pop system were originally going to go into EU4, but couldn’t make it work within the confines of the game’s code. All but saying that, not only is EU5 in the works, but its going to have pops.

I honestly think that there shouldn't be an EU5 as such. What is there to change from EU4 apart from a new engine and minor changes? While I don't doubt there will be a new EU game at some point, I do not think it will be like CK2 -> CK3 in a sense of basically just a remaster. I think it'll be like EU: Rome. Taking the EU idea and game mechanics to a different time period.. But I seriously can't think of anything that they could add to the current time period that EU4 hasn't already done. It would just be a barebones game with new fancy graphics and rehashed content in the means of DLC, and I don't think anyone would want that.
So I think PDX should continue EU4 until there's nothing left to do, Eg get performance done, get all the areas of the world contented up and then leave it as it is. The final product. Then they should go back to the early games like EU: Rome and start a different time period with the same/similar properties of EU4's mechanics on a new engine.

Ok, I don't want to get stomped on by the Mods here, but I really hope PDX do a better job for it than has been done for the latter stages of EU4, which IMO has been very poor. I do wonder if it needs lots of fresh eyes.
