Hi,

I stopped playing just before Emperor, as I figured out that bugs will be bad, and I need to wait for 1.2 version or something.
Then Emperor dropped, and nuked the game. Then DEVs went on vacation except for one annoying guy who kept posting DDs about Asia :/

I saw 1.4 patch or something published already, is the game playable again? Is AI debt spiral\merc spam fixed? How about governing capacity?

Governing capacity has always worked. I don't think there were any associated bugs. Merc spam is no longer a thing at all, though there are definitely bugs and issues with mercs. AI debt spiral is far from fixed, though possibly has improved a bit.

The game has been playable since Emperor released. Evidence? People have been playing it!

Many people may not like the current state of the game, especially unmodded. Which is understandable. But really, the only way to know if the game is playable for you is to try it yourself, rather than blindly follow the popular opinion of the forums(which is itself probably a very small minority of people who play the game).

Edit: You can freely use previous patches at any time, so it's actually impossible for the devs to "break the game" with updates.

I've had several fun games with Emperor, so I would say yes.

Oh, and btw, some of us like playing in Southeast Asia and have been waiting for this update for years, so cut it out.

How about governing capacity
Governing capacity has never been broken per se, most players just needed to get used to it. I personally prefer it over the hard limit of states/territories, since you have more say in it with Townhalls, estate land privileges, and reform progress->capacity.

Europe just recieved the biggest patch in the history of the game, what more do you want?

The only reason why it's named Europa Universalis is because the original boardgame (which was released in 1993 mind you) was centred on Europe, not because the fourth edition of Europa Universalis was supposed to be a game only centred on Europe. Europe already steamrolls the rest of the world in-game, if you really think Europe needs more flavour/buffs go back to the boardgame.

For me, it's almost a no for the second point. I'm playing on 1.24 or 1.25 actually :)
I don't like the new estate system as I forgot them even more than previously. You click some privileges that stand for years, you call the diet every 5 to 10 years to have a "mission" not so engaging and you take crown land from time to time. The events related to them are less useful than ever. You can't change the ratio of land between the different estates. I miss all the minigame there was with them, with a high potential of min/maxing if we wanted to.
I kind of like the new merc system but the implimentation is horrible. Lots more micro for managing armies (most shortcuts unusable when having a merc army attached to a regular army) and size and price badly scaling. Different arrival date between attached armies still doesn't fix.
New building for nothing.
I don't like trade company everywhere in the world but it's a personal taste. World seems to me far less diverse than before.
And governing capacity are badly scale also, so for any decent player, it turns out you have either to spam town building everywhere or use all your reform points to increase the limit. For example, by not doing anything on the gov. capacity, you hit the ceil easily with France by 1500 and can't even full core all the current French frontier.

If you take the time insinuating "important" should be interpreted as "game breaking" and then list things like "AI refusing to attach naval fleets to yours when you toggle on the "allow friendly fleets to attach" option." - then I'll make sure never to take you seriously.

If you have something reasonable to say, like that there are still bugs in the game, why resort to hyperbole?

I agree for the micro thing that was tedious for assigning land. However, once you had all your states it was done. And the provincial bonus could be useful, specialy the clergy one to increase the missionary strength. It doesn't change the fact the new system is no more a minigame.

Just disable the DLC which adds trade companies?
As I said, I'm playing in 1.24 or 1.25 currently so it solves the issue. Disabling WoN to not have TC would not change the fact I find the world less diverse ;)
