Convoy raiding can easily draws out the enemy fleet and destroy it. I wonder what really is the point for strike mission? (other then saving fuel)
Does the mean for nation without any fuel concern (like USA) convoy raiding is the one to go?Saving fuel is the big one - when the full UK fleet puts to see you can watch the fuel gauge drop in real time.
I guess the other bonus is it keeps you from random air attacks.
When there's nothing to raid but you want to make sure the enemy fleet doesn't sally forth (ex: playing as the UK vs Ger), or when you're not confident you're gonna win a battle next to their airbases but are confident you can win next to yours (ex: UK vs Ita eastern vs central med)Convoy raiding can easily draws out the enemy fleet and destroy it. I wonder what really is the point for strike mission? (other then saving fuel)
Penalties are not related to any set fleet size nor fleet composition, but the relative size of battling fleets, and there are means to counter these penalties through high level admirals with +positioning trait. Doomstack is the way to go to win a decisive battle. Is doomstack and convoy raiding mission the most visible way for main navy fleet?
No. As, far, as I know are there significant penalties when you have more than
4 CVs
8 CA/BB/BC (capital ships)
48 CL/DD (Screens)
in a fleet. With a doomstack, you should closely watch your penalties.
I would usually not use surface ships for convoy raiding, as SSs are clearly the better choice here.
You can send your SS on a convoy raiding mission and then manually move your surface fleet to the battle to join the subs. In most cases this will work, if the subs have not yet startet to retreat.
