Even on playing with 5x crisis strenght it wasnt very satisfying. Only thing that was changed, was crisis fleet power, but nothing more. I know that Stellaris AI is a mess, but after defeating first wave of crisis fleets, even if it took lot of time, that was not challanging anymore. Main reason why is (i believe) time when new crisis fleets spawns.
My suggestions:
1. Scale crisis initial fleets with endgame year (Not a victory year)
Bcs. You have more time to prepare so crisis should. If someone dont want to play with strong crisis, he can still lower crisis pure strenght, and lowering End game year could decrease crisis initial fleets.
2. Scale crisis ship spawn timer with technology cost.
Cheaper technology, means bigger advantage between normal empires and crisis, they have to have some balance. Also tech cost should not be an easy mod against crisis, but rather a speed of the game.

Some thoughts? Discussions?

Not been able to play to crisis yet due to performance tanking, but the crisis has always been terrible at expanding, so beyond the bad luck of it spawning in your empire ive never seen it as particularly frightening anyway, as no matter the difficulty you have like 200 years to grow the appropriate counter fleet.

Keep in mind most end-game crises events don't seem to work right now. Prethoryn cannot purge worlds (and apparently don't spawn new fleets either). The "awakened fallen empire" event is brutal but the awakened AI stops producing ships almost immediately. Probably because it couldn't afford to, its planets were universally populated with paradise domes. Bug reports suggest the Contingency is glitched again too.

Overall the scaling does seem to need tuning again but there's so many bugs to fix first it may take awhile. As soon as the AI opened an L-gate the late game becomes neigh unplayable even on smaller size galaxies

Big fixing is a thing. Crisis are bugged from the start, and devs seems dont love them as much, as we do :(
But this is not the topic abiut bugs, its about strenght balance. I assume that Your thoughts are that crisis is strong and dont need boost, but its weakness is placed in bugs?

Yeah I think if it was capable of just doing what it's supposed to I think it would be fine.

But adding in more sliders on game start for the things you mentioned would give some awesome customisations.
