Has anyone saw this video? What is the point of replacing Ottos, France and Muscovy with Memluks, Austria and Brandenburg? We wanted a game mechanic which balances the game in order to prevent over blobbing of ottos but now we have mamluks instead.
Thoughts on this?

2 observer games don't mean anything. My last completed observer game on the current patch ended with Ottos owning 3 provinces.

If Ottos getting wiped by Mamluks becomes the expected outcome then we can revisit this in a couple of months.

the main thing seems to be that mamlucks now wil get deacent ally's and so who ever win's the first fight of those 2 normaly eats the other one if no player intervines
also bysantium wil stay around longer because of the powerbalance threat ai wil garantie there Independence and when they finaly get attacked mamlucks wil ofthen backdor with a seperate war on Ottos

A big reason AI France and Ottomans have blobbed so fast in the past is not just their power, it's that other nearby AI majors think 'I want a powerful friend', fail to realize the danger, and feed the blob on their own doorstep (e.g. Castile helping France to conquer Aragon or Russia helping Ottomans conquer the Balkans/Caucasus). If the AI were smarter about this sort of thing, it could be very good for the game, even if it means everyone's favourite blob gets dogpiled on occasion.

2 games isn't enough for us to draw a conclusion. There's are games were ragusa grows for example. However it will definitely be interesting to see a number of timelapses. I have a feeling the game might have changed a lot. Sad that you tubers don't really do a big number of timelapses without altering stuff.

Give me a good sample, like one thousand timelapses with this same result and I will support you. Not to be mean, but I've seen tabarestan succeed a couple times before CoC, and don't consider it an OP nation (PS: RIP tabarestan :p).

It's kind of sad because destroying Ottomans' space marines is for many players favorite part of every game. Basically you expand any country to one day smash Ottomans. On the other hand smashing Mamluks can be as much fun :) So, I don't really see big problem here.

Also: it's only two games. This is not a trend, just two observations.

Muscovy, in current state, is broken. Bonuses are too good and, well, aren't really interesting. Typical filler DLC.

The thing is - balance is absent from EU4 because there was no balacne in history. Yes, in 1444 there were some countries which were on their road to greatness, but, a lot, weren't. We are looking for flavor and interesting mechanics in this DLC. Atm they seem pretty good compared to previous DLC.

The thing is - balance is absent from EU4 because there was no balacne in history. Yes, in 1444 there were some countries which were on their road to greatness, but, a lot, weren't. We are looking for flavor and interesting mechanics in this DLC. Atm they seem pretty good compared to previous DLC.

The problem with EU4 is several elements are neither historical nor balanced

For example governments, from both a historical and a balance perspective lategame governments should be more powerful than earlygame governments

Yet, if we leave revolutionary governments aside, for some reason horde government is clearly the best, 2nd place? Tribal Despotism (coring cost reduction). Best regular monarchy? Despotic monarchy (no later monarchy has bonuses that beat -unrest and -unjustified demands). In the new patch they are buffing tribal federation, iqta and adding the mamluk government - all early game governments that are now more useful than most lategame governments

I think that hordes and tribals should get better cbs, but inevitably crash if they don't reform. Bonuses on later governments should be clearly better than earlier ones. Unique governments should be different, not better, than regular ones

That is the stuff that really annoys me. If they go historical fine, if they go for balance, also fine. If they do random stuff for the "cool factor", not good

Same thing with the national ideas, why does a nation like the Rassids in the new patch get Prussia tier ideas, they left no leaving mark on world history. Yet Britain has embargo efficieny, sailor maintenaince and so on.

It bother me too. Small or non existed countries (in current time frame) recieve better NI than majors. Looks like devs thinking it's only way to make them interesting.
