Well, let me be more blunt: if something is not changed so that the player can actually control his court via 1. the dynasty screen and the 2. assign position screens, the game is simply a failure. Considering most courts get to be 200+ in size with any type of time, the present state makes it IMPOSSIBLE to chose a specific character from the dynasty screen, as the portraits at the bottom of the screen become a giant blob of identity. The screen where you assign state positions (not to mention the grant a title screen) is equally ridiculous as you have to individually sift through each random courtier to find what you're looking for.

Unless Paradox finds a way to sort these screens, I would consider the game, in addition to its multitude of other faults, a failure; this is something so simple, so run-of-the-mill, so necessary for convenience and playability, that it would be a ridiculously huge design mistake for Paradox not to address.

In a game built around dynastic politics, I can't see who's in my court!

no ledger is a pain, but you can get a player made ledger by horrogoth. it's exellent and is at version 1.07a now and works great. bad news is, you have to alt-tab out to use it, but good news is, it does the job and alt-tabbing out isnt really much of a pain. here is the thread for it http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=140921

You may have to consider that us American horde ppl are reading some of these threads and seriously questioning the worthyness of the game. Myself, I was fairly excited about CK, but with the delayed NA release, and the criticism, I must admit I'm a little leary. Some of these criticisms seem very valid, IMO, even when they're based simply on historical arguments of Medieval society.

I'll probably wait to see what areas were improved in the latest patch before I open my wallet...

just my two cents ;)

I'm just waiting patiently. I refuse to give up on the game, but that is mostly due to the fact that I've payed some 300 kr. for it (about 50 $)

I want my money's worth, but it will be a while, it seems. :(

Mmm... I don't think CK has been a failure in Spain, quite the opposite. In fact I would think right now it's actually the most active game subforum in the Spanish forums.

And half of that action in the spanish forum is people whining about the 1066 setup. Aparently the spanish, like the portuguese, don't like to see their ancestral kindoms destroyed 20 years within the game by an unhistorical horde of allied muslims which, to put the icing on the cake, even have better tech.

For people to have to mod the game to correct this simply shows that no attention in terms of testing was given to the iberian set up. The reason for the ubber muslims was to prevent powerfull kings from taking all Iberia. Guess what, the powerfull kings still can take Iberia and the smaller ones in Iberia get destroyed.

let me be very clear, the major problems with CK =

- the alliance model,
- the 1066 scenario setup,
- the crusading model,

the fist 2 are really pain in the ass. I've played many games where I ended up in 1100 with a Muslim Bretagne or Muslim Croatia just because some weird alliances are forged and due to the big difference in power between Iberian Christians and Iberian Muslims,

the new crusading model might also aid to solve this problem (local targets),

so all together = please be constructive and point out the problems instead of saying things like "gave it away to friends",

that ain't helping us much

There can never be a ledger made into CK at this stage, it would be a new feature requiring new graphics (=huge installer for the patch) and make the manual fully obsolete.

Mongols, Muslims, crusaders and vassal peace treaties are all things that propably can be fixed and, provided Paradox sticks to it's excellent customer service policy we have learned to rely to, will be fixed.
Make the manual obsolete? The manuals best purpose is a coaster for your soda because the manual doesn't tell you much at all. So just because something would make the manual obsolete doesn't mean it's a bad thing.

Not a bad idea, but wouldn't it make the player to do less clicking if the amount of courtiers gotten in the first place would be reduced? Especially since I doubt the AI can be thought to kick the right ones out.

The court screen needs alot of reshaping, and as juliusmutta said, we need to get control of the people in our court. As of now, i try to start a new game, only to realize that i cant really do anything. After i marry myself, a Norwegian king, to a nobodys daughter that is the only one willing to marry me, i just have to wait. I bought the game because it was supposed to be about creating a dynasty. Right now, its not. You have no control whatsoever of your children. You cant even choose their name..Sure you can give them titles, but it stops there. And the people in my court..Im not sure what i miss, but i feel that i dont know them, in the newest patch, i cant marry them away, only accept marriage proposals strangely enough. For me it feels like they dont knew exactly where to go with this game and decided to go with the warfare thing, even tough they do talk about creating dynastys.
And i do feel that its strange to choose the warfare thing when their Ai is so bad..I lack words to describe how bad the Ai is..

I think being able to give courtiers away to a new court you just established would be kinda nice. I mean if your son just established a new court, I have trouble believing noone in the court he grew up in would follow him. Same with your daughter when she gets married.

Of course if you couldn't pick and choose this would be irritating, but adding a line to the give gift option would be nice. Maybe even something like establishing an embassy in another kingdom or something, I don't know, but it is true that most courtiers are of absolutely no use. I end up giving away alot of land justi n the hopes of getting rid of alot of the idiots.

This is the second time I've seen someone complain about 200+ courts.

How in the **** are you getting that many courtiers? I mean, are you ever handing out titles? Losing people in battle? Losing people to disease? You are running 1.04a, right?

Even with fertile people, I still run out of males in my court after long wars where I lose half my court to combat and other half to ruling my new lands. And I really take some casualties from being Papal Controller.

And I'm not even playing on furious, where everyone and their brother gets killed in combat.

Seriously, what are you doing that I'm not? I'd like to know, so I can have some people. always in my court.
