Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa are all seperate nations from the UK.

Canada joined the League of Nations in 1919 and in 1931 the Statute of Westminster established the legislative independence of the self-governing Dominions of the British Empire as Canada.

Even though Canada became a country in 1867, it is considered that before 1931 UK had a scrutiny right over international relations and defence of Canada.

On September 10 1939, Canada declared war on Germany, the country's first independent declaration of war.
