I'm currently the emperor of Umayyad Empire in Hispania. I conquered a Shia province, moved capital to it, converted to Shia, and then granted the Shiacounty away, defaulting my capital back to the original county.
Since I'm an independent emperor, Shia, and have tons of piety, I create the Shiacaliph title. But the succession for every existing title I own goes haywire - some random count on the Arabian peninsula, not of my dynasty, is now in line to inherit ALL of my titles. I still have plenty of sons, one who is landed, and an adult.
If I destroy the Caliphate title, it reverts back to what Open succession should be - my sons. So why does creating the Caliphate, which also has Open succession, make my titles go to some random guy?
