Just wondering out of curiosity... Am I the only one who picks a character and showers him with titles and jobs? I like to start at the earliest year possible and make Lucius Julius Libo (I think that's his name) and I make him very prestigious and powerful. I start him off and give him Pontifex Maximus. Every year I move him up to the next position on the precise date he can be released. Then I make him Governor... The Censor... Then maybe Governor again... Oh yeah! And I give him as many titles as possible. I think Augur and Pontifex. Anyways, this makes him very likely to become Consul and I'm trying to proclaim Dictatorship so I can establish a Julian dynasty long before the rise of Julius Caesar. I keep having trouble with it though because I get the 10 tyranny and the 80% popularity, I just can't get one of the five traits needed before he can proclaim dictatorship! ...

Basically, what I'm asking is.. Am I the only patron of a certain character?

I did the same recently with Lusitani. My "chief" had an accident and a 10-10-10 character rose to the throne. I didn't waste time to make sure he get everything he wanted :D

I always favour the ruler and his family, for obvious reasons. The stat boosts are great, once had a king with 13 martial  he stomped everything the enemy threw at him, the damage inflicted is really severe at that point.

Yeah, well usually Lucius Julius Libo is part of the Civic Faction so not only do I favor him and his wife/family, I favor his party and give them all the jobs, too. I just throw minor titles at the complainers. I also make Rome VERY powerful from the beginning. I let them take over Carthage, Egypt, and Seleucids in like a 10 year time-frame! It's cool.

I do something different. I try to fulfill every ambition of every reasonable char. The reason though is not to make them happy, but to make them better, because they get boni with every fulfilled ambition. It's even possible to raise the finesse from 9 to 12 by doing that, theoreticly even higher. For this case ambitions for titles are not very profitable but after every fulfilled ambition comes another.

It's very seldom, that I push chars with titles they don't have an ambition for, the only reason for me to do so, is they gaining a useful bonus through the title itself, loyality in most cases.

Yes, playing the patron and fostering powerful clients is, in my opinion, the one of the best aspects of VV. The problem of course is that it can backfire when they end up with "become the ruler" ambition, which happens more or less randomly. It's not a problem if he happens to be the one you want to put on the throne, but can be nasty otherwise.

I'm favoring my current King in my Atropatene game. Of course, he has 12 martial, 8 finesse, and 10 charisma. Actually, I think that pretty much makes him god. Seriously, a military genius (better than Caesar, Hannibal, etc.), a great politician, and a friend to all living things. His traits, on the other hand, ruin this theory (ugly, aggressive, blunt...forgiving is good though).

Ya. I think I'm gonna try and find a way to put Lucius on the battlefield real soon so he can get the trait conquerer. That way whenever he takes power as consul he can declare dictatorship and eventually Emperor. I've got to find a way to play the game though!!! For two months I wont be able to play it!!

Found a way to play today!! You see, I put the entire EURVV game on my ipod nano as storage. well i went to my aunt's house and used her computer to play the game. Lucius Julius Libo died before becoming Dictator of Rome. But... He had a son... So now I'm going to make Aulus Julius Libo the Emperor of Rome whenever he comes of age. He is twelve now and his step-father is the governor of Aegyptus. He also has a sister who married the Pontifex Maximus and his mother obviously remarries the Dux of Egypt..... Thus far, the Julian family is very prominent and now whenever Aulus turns eighteen, he will be governor. Then he will make Pontifex M whenever he comes of age and he will steadily climb the ladder. Then he will be come general and admiral and censor. Then if he hasn't been consul yet he probably will have been. Aulus the Great! LOL. Lil role playing gouing on. I will arrange for his sisters husband to become Grand Vizier. and all other family will attain high positions no matter what their ambitions/skills/traits. Family is family. If one starts a civil war, I will put it down and forgive him and he will return to the post he had. I want to ruin any other families that threaten the dominance of the Julians. I will probably have to eventually destroy the Fabi's and the Amili's. They're arrogant anyways..... The poor man, Lucius Julius died while he was governor and had his son for only a year or two before he died. His daughter was born while he was Army Quaestor. His wife was UGLY (not the trait). I hope Aulus isn't ugly like her. The daughter, Julia Libo was kinda uglytoo a little. She favored her mom....... But so far so good. I wonder what killed Lucius though????.....
