I started a hard game as Guillaume the Bastard, and I succeeded incredibly at mixing things in France-France is now an elective monarchy, and my second wife own Acquitaine and Poiteau (in fact....kinda like real life)

But to secure the whole deal for my dynasty (if not for my realm right now) I need a son from this woman. I'm 50, she is 26. Neither of us have negative modifiers about fertility, but she does reigns at Bordeaux and me at London (which, logically, would be a pretty big inconvenient....)

Shouldn't be a problem. In CK2 they have great force and aim for that kind of thing... :)

But as always it's random.

I think only the woman's age matters. At the very least only women can become infertile due to age, though age might have an influence on base fertility I'm not aware of.
I think location has no influence of fertility.
So as long the character's base fertility is fine you should likely have at least one child before she becomes too old. As always it's random though.

There shouldn't be any problems with you procreating. If you really want to be sure, just go into the console (`), and type 'charinfo all'. Then you should be able to view each characters' fertility to confirm that they can reproduce. Then to shut it off just save, resign, and re-open.

No, I have had heirs being made at age 56, 66, whatever.
Wouldn't recommend it though, vassals go batshit when a child takes over, which is exactly what will happen if you make a child at that age.

Men are fertile until death. As it should be, unless you have negative traits.

You don't want a child-ruler so if you are old and sonless you'll want to keep it that way depending on the succession laws.

Child rulers aren't that bad. In my current game I had a 0 year old daughter become ruler and I had very little trouble with revolting vassals. Yes, it's better to have an adult heir ready to inherit if your ruler is likely to die soon but having a child inherit isn't a complete disaster like a couple of the other posts in this thread claim.

I would much rather ride through a Regency council than give up the opportunity to inherit her titles. They aren't that rough, and you can be tutored by an undesirable culture without fear if you are a player child. That might be useful if your best stat tutor is a foreigner.

Why without fear? You won't change culture or religion from a tutor as a child ruler?

Oh,no, my young son (that I finally got after many years of trying) is not meant to inherit my whole holdings. England and Normandy are going to my elder son, Robert (I hope he dies soon, he have lousy traits, unlike my carefully raised grandson, William)

The son of my second (French) wife is ''just' supposed to herit Acquitaine, Poitou and Anjou (his mom is the duchess of those three places. She was a little of the backstabbing b....) thus spreading my dynasty there. I suppose I will technically ''lose'' those holdings, but I did not had them in the first place.

But let's summarize. I have the default succession rules and two living sons. We will call them ''A'' and ''B''

''A'' is 35, and he have a son himself

''B'' is 5, and he is due to have from his mom three juicy french duchies.

-When I will croak, my realm will go to ''A''.

So what would be the best, if unethical, way to get those 3 duchies ? Have my wife have an ''accident'', so B get her realm when I'm alive ?

Best way to get those three duchies is for A and his soon to get bumped off, while B inherits everything.

In the Noobs multiplayer game my Persian Shahanshah had his last baby at the age of 73 or so. Of course that that time he had great-grandsons older than his youngest child (and it is kinda strange to take over as a 30 year old grandson and be asked how do to educate your 6 year old uncle. :p

In my book the most straightforward way is to father another kid on the french girl, wait for the duchess to die of an "accident" and press the second kid's claim.

Then again I might just have a preference for plans that involve war, so I'm not sure if that really is the most practical solution... :)

In my last game my 71 year old duke married a 16 year old girl and had 6 kids in a 6 year period or so :) And he already had kids from previous marriages.

From my experience women are the fertility cap. Most men are fertility powerhouses and if not controlled will create more hordes than the mongols :p

I had a King of Sweden who lived to be 92 and his last son was born when he was 89. I think you'll be fine.
