Is 1-sided Migration Possible?

I haven't played a xenophilic empire in years, so I've got a question for those of you who have used migration treaties in the current iteration.

I want to form a migration treaty with an empire whose species I would like to enslave and gene mod, however, I am not interested in sending any of my superior founder species into their empire.

So, if I disallow migration for my founder species, can I then sign a migration treaty and effectively get 1-sided migration, where only the foolish aliens are migrating?

Uh.....I believe so, but take note: Aliens are not stupid. They usually won't willingly migrate from a country where they have full rights to a country that enslaves them XD.

This is EASILY fixed mind you. Let them in with full rights and excellent living standards. Then once you have as much as you want, promptly enslave them. If you need more, use thrall worlds; those get you far more than migration ever will.

If all you are looking for is some species to gene mod, it might be easier to take a primitive world or uplift a pre-sentient. Pre-sentients can have a few unique traits like Prole. Also a few events can give you a pop, like part of the Subterranean Civilization event chain. You can't easily control where xeno pops immigrate to, so just because you have a bunch doesn't mean they are where you want them to be.

I'd imagine population growth for AI empires works in much the same way as it does for the player. If their planets are close to capacity, they'll likely have emigrants with few immigrants. So you'd probably want to find an AI empire that's small and can't expand its borders.

Also there's an advantage to having your heavily gene modded species with a bunch of event modifiers and -2 trait points migrate. An AI empire can give them Cyborg or Psionic if they go through those ascension paths. If you get those pops back you can gene mod your whole species again.

Unless it's been fixed pops will migrate to be enslaved. For some reason the game allows them to decide that they want to go become slaves.

Oh, I thought this was a Xenophile thread about one-sided open borders and letting pops immigrate from other empires without having to get the other empire to agree to a treaty.

Also note that once the treaty is signed, you don't need to actually have any pops of that species in your empire to create a colony ship with that species. Migration access is enough to make a colony ship. From there just colonize something and voila, a gullible slave species at your disposal. At that point you can break the migration treaty if you want.

Correct. The question is now: Will the AI do the same with your species? Even if you have disabled migration on that species?
