Irregular game anyone (newbies welcome)?

Im not any expert myself, but am quite interested in playing CK MP.
I can play most workdays

GMT 17:00 - 23:00
which is
EST 11:00 - 17:00

one can join whenever he wants, be whomever he wants except for a couple of homerules:
1.Superpowers (>1 king title) will be split up at scenario start
- HRE will be split into 4 major countries - Germany, Italy, Burgundy and Bohemia.
- BYZ will be split into Byzantium and Bulgaria.
- the split titles will go to the strongest (male, nonbishop) duke in the appropriate kingdom (e.g. Italy -> Milano)
AND upon player joining/replacing (but not subbing) there will be held 'council' which will decide whether to split titles of the target country (2/3 of the votes needed to approve an issue).
2.We play with clean dec 8th beta (no mods/addons/anything)
3.We play 'nicely' - general MP etiquette must be followed (no namecalling, no dirty exploits, no hacks cheats, anything else stupid and disruptive)

We arrange meetings on ICQ/MSN (I don't have AIM, but if one really needs, he can contact me through PM here or by saying someone else to forward a msg).
4.We play if at least half (rounded up) the players are there.
5.We could play it up to EU2 (convert) then Vicky, HoI2, if there's interest.
6.There could be some player count restriction, but it must be tested and depends on how much people we have.
I bet at the start we can barely get enough to get the game started anyway..

Today (or rather yesterday, because it's 1:35 am here) was the first session of this game.

Timespan:
1066-1087

Participants:
KoBohemia: binTravkin (all te session)
KoPoland: Cryus Was Great (dropped out for a while in the middle, but came back)
DoSerbia: Tzare (joined at the time of Cryus's dropout in the middle)

Remarkable events:
- Byzantium breaking up in a total civil war (everyone versus the emperor).
- Bulgaria eaten up by pechenegs and cumans
- pechenegs eaten up by croatia
- cumans eaten up by Poland
- pope disappearing (took some holidays) for a while
- Bohemia conquering the Baltic coast
- Serbia clearing off Cyrenaica

Join up in the next session!
(there were 3 more players expected this session, but one only appeared when we ended it, one didn't appear at all and one said he will be passing this and joining next session).

Lastly, I have only played with the Aug 15 patch and DS's mods, what would I need to do to be able to keep both versions? The Aug 15 and DS's mods and the December patch?

dunno about Divine Shadow mods compatibility, but you could do it so - make a clean install, add all patches, save the db, config directories in an archive, then add DS mod, save the db, config in an archive.
Next time you want to swap, just unpack the proper archive..

Btw, as there are more interest now than initially, I wonder if we could make this game a bit more official and restart for that matter, with all players taking proper and permanent positions.

Timetable can be agreed upon, we can also make it so that everyone reports once or twice a week when can he play and then we arrange it on a weekly basis.

It would be good if you had some kind of Instant Messaging, best would be MSN, ICQ or AIM.
MSN messenger should come within a Windows PC (if you have such), AIM is given to all AOL users by default and ICQ you can get at www.icq.com

Okay, Im now in a mood to post the available kingdom list - we should be picking kingdoms and big duchies over smaller countries, but if someone wishes to start as count, I have no objections.

So the kingdoms ordered by approximate strength:

* - Bulgaria has been separated from Byzantium, but the ruling dynasty is for both the same - Doukids, so could be RPed as Byzantine client state.
** - HRE has been split into it's kingdoms - Germany, Italy, Burgundy, Bohemia.
Both above changes are made to make big empires smaller and more opportunities for little ones to grow.

*** - There's a Principality of Galych I think but Im not completely sure on it's name, what I mean with first entries on the duchy list was basically 'All principalities of Rurikoviches'.


There's a random roll bug in the latest beta, which means that certain events firing on the same day are all picked the same choice by AI.
The cause Im mentioning is the 'civil war' event of Byzantine Empire, which fires often enough to blast apart the Byzantine Empire in the first 5 decades (the AI just picks 'fight it out' option for all the vassals resulting in emperor fighting vs the whole empire but his demesne), which is certainly not what I would like to see with it happen.

I also hope that players honor their skills and the game and pick a country inversely proportional to his skills (i.e., player feeling confident about themselves, pick small countries, players feeling not so good pick big and strong countries unless they can't manage them).

So, let's go on gentlemen and pick our countries!

By the way, your connection should be no less than 128 Kb(1Mbit)/s down and 64Kb(0.5 Mbit)/s up.
I am having 2Mbit up 1Mbit down and am expierencing problems time by time.
Maybe someone has a better one (then he should host)?

I think I need to try and connect with someone before the game and test out my firewall settings. It'd suck to discover that the settings don't work 5 minutes before the game.

Also, when's patch 1.05 coming out? Should we wait for that before starting the game?

I'm not sure about which country to pick, I'd have to go back to the game and test things out. And read some AARs.

1.As soon as you get ICQ, MSN or AIM messenger, let me know, I will host a test game for you.
2.Patch 1.05 is not so soon yet, but we will be playing with december beta, hope you have it.
3.England? Well, this might be a problem.
Drachenfire has asked me could he take one of the Welsh lands and I think it wouldn't be very fair to him if you took England which is right next door and several times stronger.
Maybe you have a second option?
