While this is all going on, can I just ask for the following:
A warning message/popup window that tells you that achievements are currently disabled due to any active mods whenever you start/load into an iron man game.
Happens quite often, that I start the game in order to play my ironman-save and still have mods enabled from a previous mp-game with my friends.
I agree that the Inforamtion policy is quite suboptimal. It is often nearly impossible to figure out if you can or can not get archeivements.
There are too many elitest in this thread.
If you are not an Elitist out for Archeivements, why are you playing Ironman in the first place?
Iron man has two properties for gameplay:
Disable cheat codes
Automatic Save every month/on game exit
If you just want no cheats: As they are 100% ingame scripts that make a check for Ironman mode, it should be possible to just make a mod that takes out the cheats.
If you only want a single (the latest) savegame: I could think up a programm for that too.
If you do not WANT ironman mode, there is no NEED for ironman mode.
So that leaves you using Ironman mode to get archeivements. The savegame restriction is intrinsic part of
archeiving the Archeivements. You can not lessen it without devaluing all the archievements. And that is considered a dick move against anyone that already got them the hard way.
TL;DR;
General performance improovements will happen as the always do.
There is no need to play Ironman unless you want archievements.
If you do want archeivements, Ironman mode as it is now is integral part of the difficulty for each of them.
Not only it does work, you can do whatever you want with the saves. It works for nearly every game, not only Paradox games. That's the way Steam Cloud works. It doesn't check the validity of the saves - when the game shuts down it checks for new files in the cloud save directory and uploads them. Before starting another game it downloads files from the cloud.
I alredy noticed that and corrected the information I gave. I pride myself of always admitting mistakes.
