I have to thank FTL: Faster Than Light and XCOM for highlighting how much ironman mode can add to a game.
My only concern is this: What if the game crashes?
Autosave.
And then what makes it an Ironman run if there is an Autosave to to fall back on?

Autosave every "turn"(day) doesn't really work in EUIV, though. It would make the game insanely slow. Still, if it autosave every year and it forbids you from quitting without saving, then it will be fairly difficult save scum anyway.

What? Closing the process isn't difficult at all. Yearly definitely wouldn't be a short enough period. Ideally, I would do a periodic autosave(6 months or something) along with autosaves after big actions like declaring war. If you can just kill the process and recoup nearly a year of time then ironman mode is pretty much worthless imo.
eheh, simply is needed more willpower, but if you want this option is ok for me.
I'm sorry, but I fail to see how ctrl-alt-del, a few clicks, and a couple minutes is any effort at all.
Personally, I think this feature is pretty unnecessary anyway. If you want an ironman game then use some self control and don't reload. The one thing I think it might be good for is distinguishing people who get achievements legitimately from those who reload constantly, but not if you can just kill the process to avoid saving and reload before you messed up.
A couple minutes is a lot of effort compared to a couple of seconds.
I guess so considering some people here consider it effort to NOT do something IE. not reload a game.A couple minutes is a lot of effort compared to a couple of seconds.
How does it take a full two minutes to tab out?
The same reason people reload now even though they say they want to play a reload free game?but why would players enable ironman option only to cheat it whenever things go bad?
