It's 1 February 1754 to be specific. The game just freezes at that point no matter how often I reload. It does not autosave, so after reloading I will start in January again. I don't see anything special going on at the date except for the beginning of the new month and therefore the autosave.
The EUIV tab is tagged as "inactive" in the task manager as soon as the game freezes.
