Ironman - Every single game corrupted

Okay, so after 400+ hours with this game, and after conquering the world and turning it Russian Orthodox with the latest DLCs and patches as Novgorod, I've decided to try an Ironman game.

Over the last 2 weeks, I've started 5 different Ironmans. And EVERY SINGLE ONE got corrupted. I can still play, but the game has the yellow tick box instead of the green one - i.e. the achievements are disabled. What a waste of time! I've performed so many heroic deeds, spending hours, only to realise I still have only the "got married" and "unhappy council" achievements, haha.

Am I the only one with this problem? How do I avoid this 100% save gave corruption? Can I somehow salvage a corrupted Ironman file?

I play on a Mac, always online, without reloads obviously.

I only play ironman, I've been doing so since i started playing the game (early 2014) and have never had a save get corrupted. They've always worked perfectly fine for me. I don't know what might be happening to you, maybe you should verify the game cache.
And no, it's not possible to salvage a corrupted ironman save.

My game seems to crash, with about a 40% chance of a corrupt I would role back to 2.4.5 it does not happen as much to me

Are you playing on Steam or from the desktop start menu?

I corrupted my previous ironmen attempts when playing them off of the desktop. I think you need to play the game entirely in Steam to keep track of ironman.

I've lost one ironman game - bizarrely although it was a local save I think my machine lost contact with Steam at some stage, and this lost me my green tick.

I can't see any reason for it to be version based as a problem though, so I doubt a roll back to 2.4.5 will help.

Are you waiting for the checksum to appear in the lower left corner of the menu screen? If not this might be the reason why your ironman saves won't load properly.

Hey there, I had this issue for a long, long time. I thought it was something wrong with my game. Just reboot several times, inconvenient, but it works. I thought honestly this issue was fixed in the last patch as i've never seen it since, but just restart and make sure you wait for the checksum.

Thanks, everyone! I’ve started to back up my Ironman saves and so far it’s been smooth... hope will be able to finish this one game!

This is what i was going to suggest.. For me, after every play session, which is typically a kings rule for the most part, Click Save, tab out, and put a copy in another folder. Mine, in the main crusader folder, i just have save games, and save gamesBK. In "save games BK", i have about 4 folders, i rotate through, just to be extra safe. (it was something i started years ago, because patches can corrupt saves. But seeing now it has just become habit and takes all of a few secs. rather that than waste 3 months worth of play.

I also have been playing on 2.4.5 beta setting. I have had no issues.. I am not sure when i will try the new builds and DLC.. one day i suppose but for now, 2.4.5 and backing up saves has basically been rock solid for me with no issues at all.
