Ironman Cloud save suddenly not working

Hi,

I saved and quit the game as normal yesterday and today my save file is no longer working. When choosing the save file I can't choose Play as it says "Italy does not exist at this time" and I cannot choose other countries to play either. I read advice to edit the save file to fix invalid army names etc. but the file is far too large and complex to identify such errors and I'm not sure editing of Ironman saves is even possible.

I tried copying the cloud save to the local file location which makes it possible to load the game by pressing Continue. However when the game loads my nation is a generic placeholder and I get the game finish screen.

Anyone have a clue on what to do? Corrupt save files seems rather common in EU4 but I have been unable to find any proper solutions.

Yes, moving a bad or corrupted save to a different location will never fix it. Sorry about that!

As to how and why it corrupted, hard to say. Was there a game , Steam or Windows crash while playing? An internet or Steam outage perhaps?
