Anhui, I think. It is one of the cliques that spawn to represent who was in charge of what in that periodWho's the weird reddish colour in the middle?
Yea, it is Anhui, it is only there temporarily until Yuan Shikai falls and the Beiyang Government is reestablishedAnhui, I think. It is one of the cliques that spawn to represent who was in charge of what in that period

Well the Anhui Clique becomes the Beiyang government after the end of the National Protection war and the Zhili and Fengtian Cliques declare independence.Strange. Anhui clique appeared after the fall of Yuan Shikai.

Of course I meant that in game terms they declare "independence" and become puppets of the Beiyang government/Anhui Clique. The next thing that should happen is the Constitutional Protection War between the CPM and the Beyiang Government/Anhui Clique which directly leads into the Zhili-Anhui War.The Peiyang Goverment was a separate entity from the cliques who quarreled to control it. And no clique declared formal independence from China. They all claimed to be the true defenders of China.
PS: When Yuan Shikai was in power, there were no rival cliques fighting each other. Warlordism starts with Yuan's fall.
I have never seen them win any game I have played or watched.Has anyone ever seen Yuan Shikai win?

The problem will be with simulating the later Chinese events as the Northern Expedition and the Zhili Fengtian Wars aren't simulated and neither is the Mukden incident in the base game.I understand now.![]()

Yuan dies at a certain point. The NPA automatically wins at that pointThe game isn't programed to have him to win, he always have to lose
Actually, that happened in real life. Yuan attempted to proclaim himself emperor, costing him most of his support. When he died a year later regional warlords took power, and after the point of divergence a few monarchists then made the Call to the German Empire. Yuan wasn't a KMT member, both in real life and in KR. Instead he joined the Beiyang Army, the most modernized of the Qing armies, and became its leader, reforming it into a powerful political faction, hence "Beiyang China." In fact the KMT (working with the Communist Party of China in real life) launched the Northern Expedition against the Beiyang Army in 1926, and I believe this is what caused the monarchists to issue the Call in KR.As of now, I believe in KR's lore, it's Yuan Shikai who breaks the republic apart, he's the Kuomintang head, and advocates for a return, the civil war and subsequent call to the German Empire are what leads to the Intervention, and the Qing back on the throne.
Look at the 1926 battlescenario.
I thought Yuan died in 1916, two years before the official point of divergence that spawned the KR timeline. I remember the 1926 scenario saying that Xu Shichang, who had taken control of the Beiyang clique in 1926, made the Call.I was just speaking about KR lore - yes I'm aware of Yuan's role in OTL. But as for KR, he was the one who made the Call to Germany, unless the lore has changed. The Kuomintang conflict between republicans and monarchists was won out by monarchists, and a phase of the civil war erupted - that's why the remnants of the Republican went back to the Iron and Blood flag of the Tongmenghui in the Intervention, while Yuan still uses the ROC flag of OTL today. They didn't know it would lead to a Qing restoration, but that was what the German intervention wrought. It's also why the ROC, if they show up again, they use the old Five Races flag, or if Yun embarks on his path to restore China, he adopts a flag with the Iron and Blood in the canton. The Kuomintang was discredited and thus disintegrated.
Now of course, a lot of lore is due to change since China is apparently getting comprehensively reworked...
Yuan died in 1916. the Northern Expedition occurs after Sun Yat-sen dies and it is primarily against the Beiyang Government which is highly unstable and basically had been under the control of a variety of smaller cliques such as the Anhui, the Zhili, and the Fengtian.I thought Yuan died in 1916, two years before the official point of divergence that spawned the KR timeline. I remember the 1926 scenario saying that Xu Shichang, who had taken control of the Beiyang clique in 1926, made the Call.
