I have been having this issue for awhile. Basically every single time I try and load an ironman saved game it shows it as corrupt and that I won't get steam achievements. I have tried uninstalling, deleting local files, and re-installing and the issue still occurs. I don't know why this is happening because I don't use the ruler designer. I'm not "achoo'ing" and ending task on the game to avoid bad events or anything and then reloading. Also in my last iteration of playing I actually got a steam achievement so it must have been working in ironman mode, but when I tried to reload that game later it was busted with the corrupt logo. It's still loadable and will play but that isn't good enough. I need to get this fixed and find out what is going on. Please help.
What follows now is a rant regarding the utter stupidity of making achievements only available in ironman mode. If you would like to help me and not listen to my whining please ignore everything that follows. But I have to get this off my chest! I would much much rather play this game using the ruler designer and customizing a "legendary" dynasty founder. That is how I play civ, with legendary start and I really like it. I can see how that might make the achievements easier to get or something but if that is the case then why are the achievements accessible if you play on easy mode? I always play on very hard because I am stupid and that makes getting achievements much more difficult. Also the friggin ruler stats are random on ironman so you just as easily get decent stats as bad ones so basically the "playing field" for gaining achievements is never ever level!
Personally I obsess over achievements and it's one of the big reasons why I buy games instead of pirating them. I'm willing to endure the stupid design of forcing us to use ironman to get achievements but only if I can reload the stinking saved games and still progress! I can't play for 15 hours straight to try and get some of the deeper achievements! I think this is a silly requirement at best but since it seems to be broken it's unacceptable!
