It is considerably slower than AoD.
I7 cpu, 6gb of ram, ati 5850 video card.
Sure but IC also has a considerable amount of province. They must all be taken into acount in the game calculations (and thats without taking into account all the bugs that game make the engine go wtf and go in circles).

Just a question, do people actually read comments-reviews-criticism before buying a game?

As I already posted in another thread: I am very confident that the Iron Cross developer team will be able to fix all initial bugs soon. :p A lot of you know them from previous actions, and they were always very effective with other HoI 2 issues. ;) So, let's give them an opportunity with this first self-developed official expansion. I feel that it is worth the value for the money, and only after one or two patches :D we will have an awesome expansion for our favorite Hearts of Iron battles. Let matters take their course guys.

I bought IC out of impulse more than anything else. Apart from my inexperience with mod34, I have to say that I found it somewhat underwhelming. I am sure that, as with all Paradox / Paradox sponsored games, it will get better with time, but two things struck me as especially disappointing. The speed of the game has already been commented on, and on reflection I suppose that that is reasonable considering the huge number of new provinces. However, with the 1933 scenario, it just seemed silly. It seemed empty - nothing was happening as far as I could tell. And I was excited at the prospect of starting as Germany with Hindenburg, and hopefully there being some sort of event chain that would allow me to remove Hitler on Hindenburg's death; looking through the event files I could find nothing that indicated that such an event chain existed....

I am confidant that I will go back to give IC another go sometime, but at the moment that prospect does not appeal.

I searched all events. There is no event 610525, maybe not included in 1.0? If it exists, in which file?

In db\events_34\Eventos_mod34\modext_34.txt ;)

Honestly, i was just to psyched. And it was only about 7 Euros. My beef isn't so much that i spend money and it is bad.
My beef is that it very easily could be good and it is bad.
As i said:
Mouseover-Info for the Techtree would solve a lot, an atlas would help with facts like "Rügen is an isle and not a province behind the oder" or "Emden has access to the coast and in fact lies at the coast" (I wouldn't complain about a some minor feature somewhere in Africa done wrong, but Germany is one, of not THE Focus of the game) and a decent translation is not that hard. I have students in 7th grade who do better and they only come to me because they need tutoring to make it in school.
There is also the fact that i wrote a review for gamersgate and it is not shwoing yet. In fact there no reviews there, so far.
There is also another issue with this for me.
Until now, whenever i saw game by Paradox, i got good content for a fair price. The things were cheap and good. For the level of bugginess and sometimes plain carelessness, Iron Cross was not cheap enough. With the publishing policy this will also mean for me that Paradox goes on the heap of 'evil publishers' who shell out half-finished games for the quick buck. I don't now what they get for this publishing date, but they lost my trust.

The team need a constructive criticism, that contribute to do the changes in the game ;)

If the player write 'is bad', the team can't solve the problem, but if write 'please, change this, this, this', the team will add this suggestions in a patch

In your last post, you wrote many suggestions, this is important for us

I must say I am upset yet joyous. First off the game is a game, bugs and all nothing is perfect as if were we would not be on this forum asking for tweaks, changes, updates, revisions, etc. Life is what it is. Games are what they are games!

With that said I will say I bought on impulse as well because the thought of something new is fun to tinker with. I downloaded installed and fired up good old Germany in 1933 and was amazed at the new provinces the tech treee(though I have no clue about MOD34 never played with it in HOI2) and the events. I will say events seemed strange kept getting England had this happen but no explanation to what it was similar to other minor countries and few major. NO action in 1933 at all just event chains and technology gains. I will say the OOB is off WAY off. Why does Germany have CA VII in build que along with other ships and German Technology is not even to that point. Serious bug, but its a game version 1.00, just delete the ships and have nothing built move on.

Would have been nice to see new resources or industries in the new provinces but again that can be modded so I dont worry about it or complain, its a game! I am sure I will find more stuff to say "Hey now thats not right" but I will leave that to the modders to fight over and battle it out and then the developers will fix it or not. NO BIGGIE, its a game. I am all for realism but also for playability and to some extent "a-historical outcomes". I spent 5 years in college learning and discussing World War II because it was an era of new technology and of course death and mayhem which hopefully wont be repeated by men in the future. Needless to say IC is good for what little time was dedicated to fine tune it and polish it up on an early release date. I still have AOD 1.05 to play and will more then likely play it till IC is up to snuff and people stop complaining about wasting money. You spent the money because you wanted to play the game get over yourself and your egos. Life is more precious then a game to squander your attitude to others if you dont like it just say I dont like it and move on.

Everyone seems to criticize but sure cant lend constructive help because they lack any kind of self worth to appreciate the fact that someone created something worth YOUR time to play at a cost that is IMHO reasonable. Exit stage right!

Same for me, I bought it on impulse but now kind of regret it. It's just a mod, basically, without any of the fine-tuning and polish that a real, sold product deserves. And the ENGRISH is terrible!! How hard is it to hire a native speaker to proof-read? The tech tree is a UI disaster and the new provinces are more of a case of way more provinces in places that don't need it. I can't comment on the AI because by 1938 as Germany, I don't really feel any need to continue playing. Oh, and as it does start in '33, there should definitely be event chains for ahistorical Germany.

EDIT : I LOVE the river names on the map! But the province names should be in the local language like E3.

LOL LOL, how can you say you regret purchasing something new and different but still gives you enjoyment like HOI, HOI2, etc? I really dont understand some people, its a game and its not perfect never will be ever because someone will always whine and complain about something. Cant have your cake and eat it too! There are many things that need "fine" tuning just be happy someone will get to them and you dont have to waste your money, time or sleep to help fix it. Gee the gaul of some people is deplorable for something as paying 10 dollars for a cool mod that works with another game you bought that works because it was patched and patched and patched. Please Kilolima, learn to get out of the basement and breath in the air and sunshine! It is a game and stuff happens! Now I am peeved! Sorry to all others for my vented displeasure with some here.

I'll make this very simple.
If i download a mod, which is for free, poor layout, bad translation and just plain careless is what i expect. But i do not complain, because i benefit of other peoples work, who did this work for no money and now i can enjoy it.
If on the other hand i pay, that means i deal with professionals or people who want to be professionals.
If i tell a modder that somethings broken and he tells me to fix he is well within his rights.
But it can never be an excuse for a professional, for money game, that i can mod, tweak or whatever it.
I bought a game, not a puzzle.
I work and i study and what precious little time i have i like to spend in part with games. That is 'with playing games', not modding them, not tweaking them, not doing things the developers should do.

@developers:
I would also appreciate a better structure tech tree. Aircrafts, Infantry, Armor&artillery, Land Doctrine and Secret Weapons were quite good. Industrial is very cluttered and unintuative though.
There also seems to be a problem with changing your government personal, your minister until 1936 or 37. It just does not work. When you lclick on the pictures you usually do to change ministers, nothing happens. No menu, nothing. The pictures don't even seem to be context sensitive (which i understand to mean: if i move may cursor over it, something happens).

I'm pretty sure this is because the start date for all the ministers is 1936(I assume they changed it to that in mod34) and they couldn't be bothered to change it to 1933. Honestly, this entire game is just ridiculously lazily done, with most things apparently just copy and pasted over.

Just a question, do people actually read comments-reviews-criticism before buying a game?

Sure do, thats why im here right now. I already learned my lesson when I purchased HOI3 on excited impulse, I even drove down town to collect it from the post office, and man wasn't I disappointed. I won't be making that mistake again anytime soon!

israelien thanks for your feedback! And Klausewitz I think you hit the nail on the head with this one, if it were a free mod then we could just say "thanks, but no thanks", but this is a commercial product.. the least you would expect is for it to be properly translated into English geeez even the screenshots have typos :-s

Im not gona judge anymore though as I haven't even played IC, but from the reception its getting so far I think im gona give it a miss and stick with AOD for now, if it starts getting some patches and better feedback then I might reconsider. I wish the devs luck in perfecting this expansion and I will keep track of progress :)
