Started as Ulster, unified Ireland. English declared reconquest war for Meath (along with Portugal and Sweden for extra pain and suffering). 15 painful years later, finally had them revoke their core and give me some money. Trying to rebuild legitimacy lost due to constant 17+ war exhaustion, I made a royal marriage with France. Shortly thereafter (1449), I'm the senior partner in a personal union. Seriously?
Ireland Income: 166.6
France Income: 816.7
Irish Provinces: 5
French Provinces: 25 (excluding vassels and Castillian provinces they're occupying...yes, they're currently decimating Castille and it's only 1449...BBB anyone?)
Irish Manpower / Army Size: 7K / 9K
French Manpower / Army Size: 51K / 22K
Tired of pulling statistics, I think it's evident enough that France shockingly dwarfs Ireland in every category.
Typical me would be thrilled at this. Starting with EU1, I've played for years and countless thousands of hours. Wrapping up two weeks off work and a nearly non-stop EU3 marathon, it's finally dawned on me that I play every game the same way. Different flags, different starting intentions, always results in maximum expansion and quitting when I become hegemon. Hence my desire to play as nice, peaceful, isolated Ireland. Now I'm senior partner in a PU with France. How can I turn down every instinct screaming for another European conquest and just enjoy a peaceful life on the Emerald Isle?
To the EU4 team, one request: don't let Ireland become the senior partner in a PU with France. At least not in 1449 with no overseas provinces.
