I've been looking at this for a minute now and just cant see why my income is so low. Almost no autonomy in my provinces and most of Ireland in BT 4 so idk is this a known bug or am I missing something?

It's the begining of the game, of course you're poor.

5% tax rate. 10% production. No buildings. Doing your merchants wrong. It's just gonna be like that a while.

Stop collecting, and steer, that will get you more trade income. Toss out a few boats in the north sea. Invade England.

>25% of your income on advisers. Have to fire them to pay for your colony.

Try to eat Scotland before England does as well.

That is terrible advice for any country that doesn't have a decent share in any other trade nodes. You're welcome to try it, but in this situation collecting at home is almost certainly superior.

Ireland has a mediocre base tax, no great goods, and its trade is leeched by two of the most powerful nodes in the game, of course you have low income.

Ireland has a mediocre base tax, no great goods, and its trade is leeched by two of the most powerful nodes in the game, of course you have low income.

Collecting at home and collecting elsewhere is better in many cases early on. You can easily compare trade income between the two options w/o moving the merchant. When you don't have enough trade power in home node even the 50% penalty on collecting brings in more total money than first transferring a % of the other node, then only getting another % of it because you don't have the home power.

Conquering England is obviously the best play for Ireland, if you can manage it. THAT will bring up the trade income, among other incomes. I actually don't like colony ideas 1st or 2nd or Ireland, preferring at least trade first.
