Ireland doesn't do much in the hoi games and that makes it really boring to play even though there was a bit going on.
1) During WW2 the Irish government arrested hundreds of members of the IRA (a terrorist group wanting Northern Ireland to rejoin Ireland) to maintain good relations with the UK. In response to this the IRA bombed Dublin castle and attacks took place all over the country.
2) In 1940 Chamberlain offered the Irish government Northern Ireland in exchange for them joining the Allies. The Irish government refused because it seemed that Germany was winning and it could have started a civil war.
These wouldn't be to hard to work into the game, either a event chain allowing you to arrest the IRA members improving your relations with the uk with a chance of starting a civil war and then another event allowing you to join the allies and get northern ireland or some focus on the focus tree that may be added later as dlc. These are just some ideas to make Ireland interesting to play.
