Jolly good show, fellow!I just notice that the AAR went over 10,000 views today, and I want to thank you the reader for 15 pages of fun! Without you, I'd just be a voice shouting in a veritable abyss. Many thanks!

Indeed, keep up the good work, old chap! Thanks! I'm proud of this AAR, it's my best effort by far...![]()
Impressive army, and earning its spurs quickly! Hopefully you can wipe out the evil Austro-Hungarians!
Gott spart den kaiser!
Good luck against Austria, though it appears it will be a tough war from your last update. And with an Irish Army like that, the Austrians will just have to taste the wrath off a cold hearted Irish bayonet charge!
Keep up the great work! Always fun to read.
Poor Kaiser. Forced by irish to let his people be alcoholics.![]()
On the morning of July 1, 1916, 100,000 British troops came out of their trenches and advanced in broad daylight toward the German lines. The soldiers staggered under the weight of 66 pounds of gear as they walked across a crater-filled field known as "No Man's Land" in long orderly lines.
The slow, massive advance was an outdated military tactic that was no match for the new weapons of war. The British soldiers were easy target for the Germans who mowed them down with machine gun fire. More than 20,000 British soldiers lost their lives that day, the worst in British military history.
As you state at the end, it will be interesting too see just how much the Irish government, and especially Redford, is at a loss without Duffy. We await the next term of office...
Hmm, wikipedia lists Duffy as being born in 1816, making him 86 at the time of his death. You're not trying to belittle the man, are you?
Just how poorly has the Italian peninsula fared as a result of the lack of unification?
And when are the Irish going to acquire some good wine country?![]()
A victory for Ireland, although Trieste is a historically troublesome city. The poor Austrians seemed to hold up well until those Russians came screaming across the border. And 45,000 in one battle? Yikes! Even from a population of 30 million, that's a lot. Compare and contrast:
The glory of Ireland is rather soaked in blood. And Duffy's death, neat. Who will emerge from the shadow of his greatness? The old man kicking it has got to help more than hurt liberals in the short term.
