Invasion: War Score Got up to 100% Then Fell to 60%

So something weird has happened to me twice now when I invaded another realm. I got the score up to 100% but being greedy I kept laying siege to counties to get more land, however sometimes the the score started dropping, and no matter how many battles or counties I siege it never goes up, always goes down. I figure it's one of two things (or maybe both): I captured counties in the realm but not in the kingdom I called the invasion for and/or I lost the majority of my event troops (I went from like 30k to about 5k ).

Anyone else have any ideas as to what was happening?

I mean, if you siege every outside holding but don't siege any in the target kingdom, you'll fall victim to ticking "Defender controls [kingdom]" warscore. You should almost always siege the capital at least in addition to bonus counties. Factors like that are visible when you mouseover the warscore percent in the war status window.
