Invasion of India

I am currently plaaning to invade India as Nantes in the Viking Age bookmark, I've already reached India and I'm waiting for my troops to replenish since India is tough. I am planning to switch religion anfter the invasion but not sure to what. Guessing Catholic is a good option because of the achievement. What are your thoughts on it? Muslim is beh, I'm just not a fan.

P.S. What's the best kingdom to invade? I'm thinking Rajputana or Maharastra.
P.P.S. Nevermind, these two are somehow uninvadable.

If you want to be safe from the blobs in India during the invasion, I suggest targeting the Maldives and then Lanka and working your way up. Landing near Sindh would open up the possibility of nearby Muslim rulers calling an invasion and would place you closer to where Sabuktigin arrives, which is less than ideal as he gets a rather large army.

I am having trouble reaching Ceylon. Same problem with Socotra: boats. Can't really get enough to get over there. If I weren't pagan, I'd holy war, but it's not available.

You could install the mod Jarls of India, which has a new Hindu-Germanic religion you can eventually convert to as well as Indo-Norse culture. If not though, I'd recommend conquering Socotra, converting to Nestorianism, and later on becoming Messalian. Also, what map mod are you using?

EDIT: Also, I'd probably try to invade either Sindh or Gujarat; I usually invade one of those two kingdoms whenever I'm attempting a Norse conquest of India.

Kinda having trouble ATM. Gujarat is somehow uninvadable (just no button, they are over 20 and below 40 prov), Sindh is loosing a duchy soon and the big guy is... big. Not sure if I can beat him and occupying every holding is just annoying. Besides, transporting troops is really hard. I don't have ships in the Indian Ocean and going by foot is horrible due to attrition.

The one problem you're going to run into with a Norse India game is easily just getting there, since any boats you have will be stuck on the other side of the Suez. Pretty much your only options are to conquer Abyssinia or use the "Conscript Merchant Ships" decision while your ruler is a commander adjacent to the Red Sea.

You could also move your capitol to Dhofar (I believe that's the province) to get boats on the right side of the Indian Ocean. Also, I'm pretty sure the font looks different than in vanilla.

I had to do a new save and I put my capital in Mecca (Muslims: Jihad! 10 yrs later: who needs the holy city, let's go get Anatolia.). I have about 15-18k, but beating a few blobs is hard. They gathere up into a 20k stack while the target only has 11k. (Task manager FTW)
