Im Italy its 1944, Germany has beaten the soviets though its blead its self white in the process. I'm now chipping away at the allies, But there is one major problem. The USA. Technically I can never beat them They have to much IC and manpower, But If I have a feeling that if I land in Nova Scotia the AI will try to rush me there. I can use the sea crossing to hold them, and then land elsewhere unopposed, Of course this still leads me strait into a stand up fight. Any tips ... also is there a bitter peace even for the amis? Otherwise Id have to conquer the USA and liberate the constituent states... Maybe re-found the CSA

That's an interesting idea. If you and your allies already control GB, you could island hop using Iceland and Greenland as areas to rebase to make your way to North America. Is the USA fighting anyone else like Japan? Idk how your situation is in the game but I feel it would be really hard just to get supplies that far. The problem is the lack of islands in the Atlantic. Maybe you could invade Nova scotia like you said while taking some Caribbean islands and invading from the south? Other wise im not too sure. Good luck!

When I played as France I had a similar problem. I expanded the Maginot line, and held it. But although I had stopped the German Goliath there was no way to slay it, not unless I wanted to re-enact Verdun, and France could not possibly hope to win a war of attrition. So I threw a curve ball and invaded Sicily using the straits as a defensive line. The AI naturally tried to force the crossing but couldn't so it left a Huge stack of units there instead, which allowed the newly created French Marine Corps to land behind them and cut them off, , while the Armee d'Air logistic bombed them and they were rolled back into nothing. Thus the scales were tipped Italy was crippled and having to fight on two fronts and Germany lost two panzer divisions, and had to weaken the western front to try and save the Alpine and Italian fronts. All with very little cost to France... What I'm really looking for is a place or four where I can pull off a similar trick... force the US to commit its forces in several places and then tempt them in and then quickly encircle and destroy those forces, Like you said though Islands and such generous landing zones are in short supply, and it would mean that for the first time the RM would have to leave the safety of the extra Air cover from land based Sqns... I only play couple hours a week so any suggestions for hot spots would be welcome.

My general preference is to call the game won a the point that only the USA is left. Crossing the ocean is too much annoyance for the satisfaction of completing it.

I did invade once with Germany, but it didn't go well due to my limited understanding of the supply system at the time.

one way to go about it is to get a country near the US in the axis. Nicaragua and Guatemala are fairly susceptible. You can also try couping Haiti, Cuba, etc...

I once managed to do it this way as Germany:
Barbarossa in early 41, finished next winter
Then dealt with the Brits, send troops to their colonies and annexed them.
Thus, with the Brits out of the way, I could invade Canada and force the Allies to give up.
and following that, I used old English and French islands in the Carribean as base of operation to hit Florida, while invading around Newfoundland and pushing up from there at the same time. My veteran panzer-divisions smashed right on through the fresh US troops. they were key to the victory.
Though this was in FTM, and done by sneaking past their fleet.

This is fun because I do it all the time.

Landing in Newfoundland is your first step. You can land in St. Johns from Godthab, Greenland or the Spanish port of Farro in the NW of that country. These approaches allow for the shortest supply routes and easiest protection from raiders.

There is a Strait crossing from British Labrador, but with 5 divisions you could hold back 100 Allied (assuming you at least can challenge them in the air) for quite some time. I rarely see the AI attempt a serious crossing here once you make your main landings.

My next move is to land in Halifax. The trick here is to move quickly. Once you land the allies will being to react, but Halifax is not adequate to supply a true invasion, so you will have to move on Quebec and/or Boston rapidly. The AI will often overload the Canadian front with US expos, so leaving a screen against Montreal will allow you to press quickly down the coast.

The US AI will only maintain around 100 extra manpower for replacements and gets about 50-60 a month, so if you can knock out a few of their divisions early on you can keep them from adequately reinforcing their depleted divisions.

As Italy you will no doubt have much less mobile forces at your disposal and air and naval power will be in short supply. So it will be much more in question if you can do it. Maybe you can get ol' Adolf to expo a few panzer divisions to you after you land?

Good luck!
