Hello,

I am playing a spritual/xenophobe/militarist empire with cobtinental pref. 10 years in I have colonized my 2 neighboring cobtinental planets, found 2 alpine worlds plus 1 more alpine with an atomic age civ on it (agrarian+alpine pref molluscoids).

So my question is:

-should I invade and enslave?
-invade and not enslave?

The point of This would be the pops to colonized the alpines... But I hear managing different species is a hassle with pop growth mechanics, bugged political power and so on. So maybe not worth it?

So is it perhaps better to

-enlight them and then gain a protectorate

This I could later integrate right?

With your ethics I would conquer and enslave. The bugged pop growth mechanics are only a problem for egalitarians. Just disable free movement and you can place whatever species you want on whatever planet you want them to be (and nowhere else). You can also switch which species should grow if multiple exist on a planet (which would also anger egalitarians).

Not enslaving them should anger your Xenophobes.

Ive been invading and enslaving with my Authoritarians, just turn on migration controls (and i turn on population controls as well) for that species and move them to where you want.
Ive also been leaving one slave on the planet if i want to keep it until one of my guys grows there (or i move a guy there).

fyi disabling free movement isn't enough to stop them popping up on new planets of yours.

It's a bug for certain, but it really does render pop growth mechanics broken for everyone, not just egalitarians.

It seems to work for me and I have no problem keeping single species planets in multispecies empires unless I sign a migration treaty.
Migration treaties seem to ignore migration controls at least for the founding species of the empire you sign the treaty with though.

No. You have to disable free movement for the SPECIES, not in the empire rules.

Thanks everyone for your comments!

I am a savescummer so i did invade to try it out. The molluscs were enslave. As I tried to free them from the empire menu (outlawed slavery), they were still enslaved. Only from the species menu was I able to free them.

I also noticed one of my own pops immmedieately srarted to grow on that inhospitable alpine rock of theirs.

Is it possible to have their species enslaved and work all Jobs? Or do I need my own pops there as well? That will cost me some extra consumer goods right?

Also, if their species is enslaved, can I use them to colonize?

It has been a very long time since I used slaves in the game as you probably notice :)

You should allow your species to grow there. Otherwise all higher strata jobs won't be filled. It does cost you extra consumer goods and amenities but it is worth it.

This is an interesting topic I am playing a fanatic xenaphobe materialist speices.

In the beginning of the game when I only had 2 planets I had a species request asylum so was like sure! Got 2 xeno slaves on my capital haha.

There are some guys next to me that I need to take out and they are small. Figure go for then before I try to take on the ravenous swarm to the north (playing with glavius ai mod so there's some legit threats around.
Anyway ive been trying to decide if I should invade and enslave them or vassalize/tributary them.

I think I like the idea from @mrbtings Turning on not only migration controls but population controls as well. You want your main specie to he growing but as you conquer you'll get slaves and stuff for the worker jobs. But with population controls on they shouldn't overrun you.

My last game in 1.9 I did a xenaphobe run where I enslaved every species but mine. Worked great.

Anyway good topic

@Limes it will cost you some extra consumer goods but could be worth it you'll just have to take it into account. If your going bio ascension u could mod your pops to he adaptable if they aren't already. Also prioratize habatability tech when they pop up. Itll help.
