Friends, I ask you to support the idea of introducing mechanics of neutrality. The country should not participate in offensive wars 10-50 years to declare neutrality. This country receives economic bonuses. If some country declares war on a neutral country, the country-aggressor gets immediately a penalty for aggressive expansion, as well as double the price for the province. The game is in dire need(!!!) of such a mechanics at least for the same Switzerland, maybe with additional thematic content.

What scares me is that this will mean that the Free-cities are rarely ever attacked nor attack. So they'll quickly end up as "neutral" and taking a free city will mean instant coalition even if you do everything correctly (They're primary target, etc). Suddenly taking a free city will make even the best of pros feel like a noob annexing their first co-belligerent.

Not to say this isn't needed, just there'll need to be tweaks to keep some situations from wrecking things.

Imagine all the neutral natives in the Americas. :D
This is Europa Universalis, neutrality didnt mean much for other nations in this time, more AE and warscore cost are unnecessary.

The thing about Switzerland is that for much of the game they were involved in defensive and offensive wars. Typically they won defensive battles fought on their own turf (even against dominant military powers such as the Habsburg and Burgundians) and they suffered a number of major setbacks intervening in Italy. They wouldn't engage in offensive wars beyond their borders after that but that they weren't attacked until the French invasion had less to do with their pledged neutrality, and more with their location in the mountainous Alps. Plenty of states in the North European Plains were attacked and conquered despite not engaging in offensive wars beyond their borders.

Does not fit the time period at all as nobody recognized it. It might be a good feature for Victoria 3, but not for EU.

Only neutrality mechanic we need is when you have an ally on both sides of a war, should be able to declare you are neutral in the war if you so choose.

SWISS MERCENARIES!!! CANTONS! CONFEDERACY! BARBARIANS, LEARN HISTORY!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musso_War
I clicked one of the wars matching and it seems to not be mercenaries. Does the confederacy or Caton pat matter? It's still a Swiss war. Maybe instead of using all caps and insulting people you could actually say why

Probably some sort of a weird nationalistic zeal.

It happens from time to time -- although its more "WE'RE STRONK" and not "WE'RE NEUTRAL!". Each to his own I guess.
