I'm not a big computer games, but for this game, I'm going to buy a new gaming machine.

Here is a summary of my city builder experience:

Simcity Classic - awesome
Simcity 2000 - even awesomer
Simcity 3000 - why did I never buy this game?!?
Simcity 4 - bumpy start, but turned out to be the awesomest of them all

.. but then..

Simcity Societies - WTF???
Cities XL - Nice try... curved roads and free camera angle long overdue, and got me really excited.... but the simulation engine is too simple and zoning leaves much to be desired. Meh. No real improvements with expansion packs
Simcity 2013 - LOOKS AWESOME.... What? Online only?? small city sizes? Screw you EA!! I'm not buying this crap. I'm proud to say I never bought this game!

I guess the golden age of city builder games has passed. ....sigh.

Cities Skylines - Huba huba huba - I'm so buying this game. This will be the first city builder that truly tops SC4!!! Thank you, paradox, for restoring my faith in the gaming industry!

I think it's going to be a bit like SC4. Bumpy start, but it will definitely get much better over time from mods and DLC.

Introducing myself personally on a forum is a strange concept for me but why not? You're all such a friendly bunch.

I'm James, 25, live in London and work in the technology industry. My first step into the city builder / management game genre came after I got SC3000 having desperately wanted it after just seeing the advert on the back of my The Sims (1) box.
It was the first game I can say I had an addiction to. SC4 continued that trend.

I became disillusioned with gaming over the last few years with a number of sequels to my favourite franchises being huge disappointments. I'm hoping to pick things up again with Cities Skylines. I'm not raising my expectations too highly. Im just hoping for a solid base that we can all help build upon to turn it into the greatest game of this kind ever! I'm in it for the long haul.

Hi, I´m Touko, 15 yrs old and i live in Finland (the country of CO)

I got into strategy and sports games, because my dad didnt buy me CoDs or GTAs and now i´m glad that he didint allow me to play them. First i got into sports games, but in the past 3 years i´ve started to play more and more strategy games. My favourite games are Civ 5, EUIV, Tropico, FIFA 15 and SimCity(2013) Yes, I loved SimCity(2013), because it was my first city building game. After that i bought Cities XL 2012, because i wanted to play on a bigger map, but still it felt so dull, because cars spawned from nowhere and the building did not upragde. Now i´m so hyped for this game, because this game is better than SimCity(2013) even in Alpha-stage (or at least what i saw from the streams), so how much will i play this!!?

I just joined today after reading lots and watching YT vids.
I've been playing Simcity from SC 1(NES/PC) - SC 2013, with Simtower in there as well. I wanted to get Streets, but could never find it when I had the $, but always could when I didn't. I found them quite fun for a time, and I'm still playing SC 2013 (offline only, never got interested in the online aspect.) I've been following Skye Storme's SC series on Youtube, and found out about this game from there. With the mods, it's getting better, although it can be frustrating at times. I've tried to make a couple of mods for it, but I never did figure out how to get them in-game.

I was also into racing games for a time, mostly the NFS series, but lost a lot of interest after Porsche Unleashed. I did get involved with a game in development, that (due to unforeseen circumstances,) never got off the ground, as a track designer/builder.

I'm looking forward to C:Sl.

But the biggest diffrence from simcity, at the buildings, it dont write something with an "unknown language".

I am very interested in this game since I have known existed.

I will not be very active in the forum because of my horrible english (with Google Translate worse yet), but I read you with care.
I loved playing Sim City until the SC2013 has followed a path that has not interested me.
Nor CitiesXL provides what I want.

Although I have studied architecture and urban/regional planning, I´m looking for a game, a game that allows me to enjoy creating cities of all types to behave in the most logical way.
I will not deny that I also like those cities could be connected together in a large region.

I have many things to discuss, but the language is a wall too big for me.
The official forum in my language is dead and also do not think Colossal Order stop by to see suggestions there.

I hope this game will give us a good base to go making it larger gradually.

My name is John, Looking forward to Cities Skylines. I can remember playing SimCity 2000 on my 1st. 386 I built. Didn't get into 3000, 4 was, well now a classic. Burned a lot of hours into that game just like a lot here did I'm sure. XL `12 was for all it's shortcomings not bad if you had proper mods. SC5 - never tried it, for me the dinky maps and online only fiasco when it was released kept me away. And the rest well, perhaps enough is said and known about that game.
I have a feeling Paradox Interactive is going to step up to the plate on this game.

Hello, i'm Augusto, 22yrs old, i'm in Germany now, but i'm from Brazil, i start make archtecture on college.

I love strategy games, i start my 'player life' with the sims 1 and sim city 3000, and after start player sim city 4, i make bats for the game to.
Today i love the hearts of iron series, and victoria II, and cities in motion, sometimes i play one or another FPS game just for fast fun bust the most of time i expend in strategy and simulation games.

I alread played all 'famous' citybuild games, sim city 2000, 3000, 4 + RH, societies [hate], 2013["""ok"""], cities xl, cities in motion 1/2 [i like build cities on CIM hahaha!], banished, anno ____ séries, tropico 3/4/5. And some small games...
And i want the skyline so so so so much! I wait for this alread 10 years from the sim city 4, the game looks so much promissed, i hope is opem for modders e batters communitt this make the sim city 4 live util now, and this make the game 300% better, not is because the 'cleam' game is not good, its awesome, but bats is good for incrase the options, the gameplay (after player a long time start be little boring see the same buildings almost the same cities).
I think the infra-structure will be the best thing in Skylines, and that is good because infra-structure is what mantain a city working, not only streets or buses but everthing in a city like a powerlines and traffic.
