My prior experience with Battletech or it's spin-offs:
I own digitally most every media source of Battletech from FASA-CGL, 1984-2020, from the Role-playing Game, Boardgame, Novels, Comics, CCG, Animated Series, etc... I have a basic rules set I use for Battletech, I call "Battletech Junior" that I have introduced my kids to the world of Battletech with and find they warm up to playing Battletech very quickly and easiliy. Instead of minis, I use the images from Megamek for Mechs, Vehicles, Aerospace Fighters, etc... to play the game with instead of using minis considering I do not own any of the box sets as of yet. I have also made my own record sheets I call Mech Data Cards. I think Battletech Junior is quicker than Alpha Strike in gameplay. I am not a clan sympathizer (sorry
, give me time) because the problem with owning all of what I own of Battletech, is that it is hard for me to know where to start and what to read first as far as the RPG goes. I am a big fan of the Gray Death Legion, because I am reading "Decision at Thunder Rift" right now. I read "The Sword and the Dagger" first. I am aspiring to have a working knowledge of the world of Battletech. I sort of know the timeline, a little or at least the establishment and fall of the SLDF to the rise and fall of the Successor States to the Exodus of Kerensky and clan (pun intended) to Wolf's Dragoons masquerading as scouts for the Clans to Clan Invasion to World of Blake/Jihad to the Dark Age. I hope I covered everything, but I am sure I missed something. The way Battletech has been best described to me is Game of Thrones as a Space Opera. My favorite aspect I love about Battletech is the absence of aliens and of course the Mechs!!! Humanity has enough problems all on their own to resolve, no need to add aliens into the mix. I hope to make a Battletech Movie someday. Whew!!! that is a lot. I think I reached my saturation point LOL!!!

If you are looking for more resources for playing tabletop, take a look at Solaris Skunk Werks. I use it for printing mech record sheets.
If you are looking for minis, I think you can still join Catalyst's Clan Invasion Kickstarter as a late backer. Not entirely sure as I believe they have closed the pledge manager now.

If you want to talk real limited edition clan, I discard your smoke Jaguars as try hardship, and point you to clan jade wolf.

But Clan Smoke Jaguar threw their whole being... LOCK, STOCK and SMOKING BARREL! into what they did...
...while there are Kinder and Gentler Factions, in many ways Clan Smoke Jaguar personified the quintessential “Barbarian Horde at the Gates of Rome” threat that Jordan and FASA were shouting for back in 1990. They were meant to drip Evil, Self-Interest and Hypocrisy... and they did it so very, very well. : )
Plus you see, I am a professional Wargamer (23yr Army Retiree, Military Intelligence / Strategist) embracing the “Opposing Force” has been something I’ve been doing for more than 30 years now. In many ways, Clan Smoke Jaguar is my favorite Opposing Force exactly because of their flaws, shortcomings and yes, being annihilated. :bow:
I believe the correct answer here, is mongrel crusader wolves. We all know the noble wolves are in fedcom space at this point (never acknowledge the rebel’s claim).
I got to participate in Red Flag a few times, and have flown opforce many times after that. I can relate.
Excellent. I was able to attend a Red Flag IPR at Nellis for the run up to Millenium Challenge... Pointy Nose Jet Jockeys and all! : )
