The First Persian War
In 1449, Selim II the Grim succeeded to the throne of Ak Koyunlu. A conqueror by nature, it was Selim who would truly make Ak Koyunlu a great power.
From 1447 to 1452, Ak Koyunlu, the Golden Horde, and Egypt would struggle against the combined armies of Delhi, the Kaliphate in Baghdad, and the empire of the Timurids. In summer of 1452, the sultan of the Timurids was utterly defeated and taken in chains to Isfahan, which he ceded to Ak Koyunlu along with the border provinces of Hamadan and Tabriz.
Two years of quiet prosperity passed.
The Siberian War
In 1454, the Great Khan of the Golden Horde decided that the pagans of Sibir had enjoyed their freedom for long enough. War was declared, and so the Golden Horde, Ak Koyunlu, and Nogai were pitted against Sibir, the Uzbek Khaganate, and the Khazak Horde. Sheep cavalry primarily saw action around the Caspian Sea against the Uzbeks. The rich gold-producing province of Kara Kum was captured, and the upstart Khan of the Uzbeks was made to cede that province to Selim in 1456.
The Great Khan, meanwhile, had almost doubled the size of his already-vast realm and brought countless Mongols, Uzbeks, and Khazaks under his dominion.
The Second Persian War
Selim was a great conqueror and a skilled diplomat, but a very poor administrator. It is rather unfortunate, then, that his reign would see peace for another four years, since he was not able to take advantage of the quiet to improve his government.
In 1460, the grim conqueror of the Ak Koyunlu once again had a chance to put his best talents to use. The sultan of the Timurids, still smarting from his humiliation some eight years before, declared war on the Great Khan of the Golden Horde. This was to backfire horribly, for Selim, the Great Khan of the Golden Horde, and the sultan of Egypt had already been making plans to go to war with the Timurid Empire for some time. As such, their armies and defenses were more than prepared to deal with the threat from Persia.
For four years, the armies of Nogai, Ak Koyunlu, Golden Horde, and Egypt wrestled with Delhi, the much-weakened Kaliphate, and the Timurid Empire. In 1464, the Timurid sultan was again brought to Isfahan in chains and ceded Hormouz, Fars, and Awhaz to Ak Koyunlu, and Herat, Bukhara, Tadjikistan, and Kirgistan to Golden Horde.
In the next four years, Selim began preparations for his final Persian expedition, determined to crown himself Shah of all Persians before his death.

hi everyone:
unfortunately, i can neither play tomorrow night nor the wednesday the week afterwards as i am traveling on business. given my inability to attend the last two weeks as well, i think that it has been well established that i cannot really play as a regular in the game. i am sorry; i really would have liked to, but real life is very busy right now.
i'd like to be considered as a regular person to go for for subbing on the other hand. so if you need someone & i'm on-line or you have advance notice, please give me a holler.

The Muslims are very important now. That there are 'many of them' and that they have lots of mutual room to fight over. I hope that they all meet up in the outskirts of Asia soon!!! And find 3-4 Golds in one Bunch to War over... Problems are going to arise as Western, Central, Southern Europe is pretty much spoken for. Europe over all is not very contested. France is going to be a permanent battleground, as for the winner being anything great? I don't think they'll be able to contend with the Muslims or Smarter Fringe Europeans who just pick off a little here or there and bid their time with Tech. As far as Aragon, England, Burgundy and Morocco, they are going to race to the 3 Continents for Supremacy. Whoever wins that Race is the ultimate Contender against the Muslim Horde. <whoever the Leader and Alpha that arises from that may be>

Sorry Drake, yes you did say that--is dane interested in playing Byzantium long-term do you know? We really need a steady Byzantium, as HG is clearly gone, and Byz is becoming a major power in the game.
Side note: I have an excellent admiral, unfortunately he commands a 5-ship fleet.
