Have you read this interview with Karoliina from CO?
http://en.gamescope.ru/features/karoliina-korppoo-cities-in-motion-us-cities-interview-en/ (A link was recently posted on CiM Twitter and FB).
It's a nice interview, giving us some inside view of the game.
I'd like to refer to one thing Karoliina said:
Vehicle spacing was among the most wished for, so we made an update to make it work much better.
A fix for vehicle spacing was never announced as a part of any patch or DLC. Did anyone notice if vehicle spacing is now better? Was there any change in the vehicle spacing code?

I suspect it was in one of the very early patches (e.g. 1.0.11 and 1.0.12 dealt with number of private vehicles and jammed vehicles).

I was more interested in the questions regarding US Cities, although follow up questions on the trolley-buses and capacity would have been nice. E.g:
- Why CO chose trolley buses for New York when, as stated in the interview, "the New York City metro system is superb"? Wouldn't that have been a more appropriate type to focus on?
- Why do the new vehicles have greater capacity? Is the population density in the US maps different to the previous ones?

Also, great to see Transport Tycoon, Theme Park and Theme Hospital getting mentioned at the end, awesome games! I still play Theme Hospital now thanks to Corsix-TH. :D

I have no idea about the spacing code. But since we are talking about the interview was very interesting to know they sent people to cities to actually transmit the feel of the city in the game. And I have to say that they really manage to do that!

But I'm going to be picky in another part. First she said:

Passenger capacity changes for the vehicles have been discussed on the forums, but there’s as many opinions as there are players!

And then:
[...]Both in Cities in Motion: US Cities have slightly larger passenger capacity than regular Buses and Trams.

Which means the side of players that defend a larger capacity did have some impact on their decisions. And it's sad. Not because I don't like a larger capacity, but because it ruins the standard of the game. Now we have:

A very large tram holding 24 passengers (Vagabondo Satellite)
t_Vagabondo_Satellite.jpg

And a very small cable car holding 32! passengers.

Details here: http://citiesinmotion.wikispaces.com/Vehicles
It just doesn't follow the rest of the game.

Also one of my biggest arguments was that CO balance the game, considering number of citizens and vehicles capacity. But how they come up with number of people living in a building is also an impossible equation to discover. Can someone explain the below?

buildingscapacity.jpg

It seems to me the capacity of the buildings were adjusted to avoid traffic jams in NewYork of something else, like unemployment. So the capacity is adjusted for the map not for the building. Not a good outcome in my opinion.

You can use this mod as a template. Just extract the files from the .gs file, and edit them.
For example:
// ===========================================================================================
// Bus01 (Maurice Astor) => Morris Commercial Bus
// -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
// Original values:
//
// Capacity: 10
// Price 200 (Note this is the base price and will change with the economic growth rate)
// Reliability 0.50
// FuelConsumption 9
// ElectricityConsuption 0
// Attractiveness 0.50
// Speed 30
// ===========================================================================================
if($grid.getGridObject("bus01")) {
with ($grid.getGridObject("bus01")) {
.capacity = 18;
.$price = 350 * 100;
.$reliability = 0.50;
.$fuelConsumption = 16;
.$electricityConsumption = 0;
.$attractiveness = 0.50;
.$speed = 30;
}
}
This is the code for Bus01: Maurice Astor.
Change the line: ".capacity = 18" to the number you want.
