i had bribed Friesland about 6 times to 200 relation. everytime relation dropped to exactly 150 before i was able to send the next diplomat next month. i couldnt even click the diploannexbuttom.
i dont need to be compensated anyhow for that. but it would be cool if Friesland could be annexable next session if its a bug. :D

edit:

Ane ???
And when does this period end?

Ane is going to be the duchess of friesland, in 1474.

There is also a chance that Friesland will inherit Oldenburg after 1490, so you would get 2 for the price of 1. Especially likely if you make sure that Zeeland and Kleves don't exist in 1474. Then she is almost certain to marry the Oldenburg dude, which leads to their union later on.

But it takes patience, something most players don't have in MP.

Read the file for more of a clear idea on how it goes.

She is tough and knows that she will lose the support of this very, very independent, quasi-democratic society if she tries to get too cosy with Bavaria, her erstwhile backer.

EU2 does not model these things well, as it it built around the assumption of feudal, absolute monarchies. They made a few tweaks to this, like making it impossible to DA the Pope and the Knights, but there are way more countries that ought to be non-DA-able. While I can't change the coding, I can make events to help political reality take shape a little better.

If you lose patience with the Frieslanders, you can always crush them.

It ends in 1490.

It was a short one, I was just in the middle of crushing Il-Khanate so I had some WE and most of the army was stuck doing cleanup of the persian lands when he dowed. He moved in and took aleppo we did some cav battles in the plains and he moved back and moved in some more troops. Just gave him Aleppo so I could concentrate on the Khanate.

He did what? As Genoa, right?

Holy crap.

Yes, ban him from the game. That's stupid even if the Caliphate was ai.

Yep, silly me for thinking 6 to 1 odds with a leader would be enough to take Florence. Not even my navy could win a battle. So I have to ask, what the hell is with Genoa? Why is it impossible to win battles? Because from the look of things, Matty'd be better off not building a military.

genoa militarry is not THAT bad; there are quiet a few human nations that have much worse military sliders then genoa(stats). there is one human with lower support limit then genoa as well. also this nation has a CC and a shypiard. however it needs long term plans and a lot of diplomacy(location) to develop. it is a very important nation that could swing the military balance with ease within various alliances.

It doesn't matter if there are other countries with worse militaries. Genoa's is worthless. I attacked Styria five times in Venice, always with equal or greater numbers, with a leader, lost every one of them. I landed in Istria, a mountain province, and lost with 2 to 1 odds in my favor.

Then I go to war with Hansa, attack Florence with 30 to 6 odds while my navy blockades. Lose my entire army, the navy gets trounced. A build another army, gets wiped out 15 to 5. My navy loses again. In other words, it took me 45,000 infantry to kill about 1,000 cavalry.

Genoa's miltary is worthless, pure and simple.

You used infantry against cavalry?

Edit: Landing in mountains tends to produce bad results. Even a normal attack in mountains is tricky.

Granted, it might have been able to kill the 6k Hansa army in Tuscany, but it wouldn't have survived the 30k he marched in through Germany.

that is why war is not always the best solution unless the timing is right;)

I figured it was as good a time as any. He wasn't willing to give away Florence for cash, I didn't know he had military access through Germany, and I outnumbered his army there 5 to 1. And if my navy had been the least bit competent, I could have blockaded quite securely.

You clearly do not see the big picture. Hansa was an ally to Genoa. They are the richest nation in the game. They have been helping Genoa with conquests in Northern Italy. This info you could have EASILY gotten by asking "is there any Genoan ally" and then consulting him on what to do. But instead you lose your temper over having lost 6-7 battles against the AI and launch an attack on
1) your closest ally
2) the richest nation in the game
3) a nation you can't likely beat.

Say that you had 40K cavalry in Genoa. You would move in to Firenze and occupy it. Then what?

I'm more frustrated on how you chose to suddenly quit without bothering to adjust the budget, leaving Genoa on full mint for the rest of the game.

If you want to win every war, multiplayer is not for you.

None that I know of.

Not really sure why we bother having complex and intriguing events when people just conquer the whole board in 40 years.

It leaves me somewhat surprised that people on the Interregnum forum get cranky that too many countries don't have enough events. Who cares? Just conquer them quickly, events be damned.

However, I think it is fair that Bavaria gets a message about "Don't bother trying to DA friesland. The event sequence is brand new, just before the game began. Kinks are to be expected.

And Bavaria is doing just fine. Sorry, was that two manus you are building?
