I've recently persuaded my friend to purchase Hearts of Iron II complete from steam. We tried to make the multiplayer function well, but we haven't yet succeeded.
When I host a game and he tries to join, I get completely disconnected from my internet for a short moment, making it impossible to play. I get disconnected for a time long enough that programs such as skype and mIRC "notice" it.

Here's a few facts:
We have both opened the ports specified in this post: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?187623-Step-By-Step-Router-Setup, and we've checked with a port checking program.
My friend isn't having the same problems at all (We're going to try and let him host later today).
My computer is the only one connected to the router by cable in the house.

I understand that this forum is no longer very active, but I hope that I can get the help that we need to play this very fun game.

Thanks in advance!
