10 years US Navy (8 active / 2 Reserve - didn't like the taste of reserves)
Electronics Technician with a focus on Flight Deck communications, HF/UHF and Data Link systems. #CV64
I started playing Battletech as a young teenager, well before enlistment, but brought it with me.
Indeed!
During my military service I had the great honor to serve alongside many international Brothers and Sisters. The Profession of Arms offers ties that bind us all to one and other on a very personal level. One such tie proved to be that self-sacrifice in the cause of freedom knows no international boundary. Thank you one and ALL for your efforts and the sacrifices of your families in pursuit of stability, security and service to others.
Absolutely true Havoc. It doesn't matter what color our uniform was or the flag on our shoulder, we all took the same oath in one language or another.
If there was a way for me to remove the U.S. from the below picture I would, because this picture describes not just my American brethren, but every one of us who has ever volunteered to put on the uniform on the name of their homeland. I hope that one of our more creative community members one day can make a more international version.
So I offer all of you this, simply as an old sailor who has sailed halfway around the world and back and has served in honor to those who have stood the watch before me, along side me and those who will stand the watch after I am long gone:
When people out in the world fail to understand why the little details matter to you, or why you spend half the day angry at seemingly nothing, or how you can never walk into a crowd of people and not tense up and constantly scan the area looking for something you pray isn't there. Remind them... show them... but most importantly, remember that you do not stand alone, for there are countless of us who stand beside you.
