Is there anyway to influence internal wars? My lords are always fighting each other for petty claims and it's crippling the levy supply I can get from them. Some wars have been going on for quite some time and are totally stalemated. I fear these wars will go on until the end of the game without a push.

Maybe its just me but the internal fighting seems a lot more passive than it used to be too. I could swear that even "defending" factions would go on the offensive at times. Lately I've noticed that defenders, even with a ten to one advantage, will just sit on their butts instead of besieging the attacker's counties. Dragging wars out for months or even years. Looks really weird.

I guess you could try giving a bunch of gifts to one of the fighting sides thus helping them win quicker by making them able to afford a bunch of mercenaries. Other then that i dont think theres much you can do.

And once again, the answer is murder! (It's awesome that I can write this without eventually going to jail.) If they're waging war over someone's claim (X's claim on territory Y), assassinating the claimant should end the war.

If it's a de jure claim though, I'm not sure assassination will help you.

This is exactly what I do. I look at who looks like the weaker vassal and their family/ heirs and support him by gifting money.

Would make more sense to give the money to the stronger one if you want to end it quicker.

I observed that phenomena by my self. Within the duchy of Gelre two counts fought a war over 2 or 3 years - really annoying! If you are willing to take the prestige and opinion penalties revoke one of the competitors titles. I don't understand why you can't intervene in vasalls war ... should be possible to control whether vasalls kill each other or accumulate titles given by yourself.

Well, if a count claims a duchy and I don't like the current duke because he causes too much trouble, I'm gonna support the count who appears to be easier to control once he's claimed the duchy. And since I always keep enough cash in the treasury I can gift enough, so that the count can afford a decent sized mercenary force.

I would agree with your latter point as well.

Seems like gifts may be the way to go then. I would try killing the person, but the whole situation is strange. In the war that is currently happening, the character who has the claim is not even fighting. A lower baron declared war on a duke over the title, but the title claimant has not joined the war because he has his own issues. I actually didn't want to kill either of them because they're family members. He also doesn't have a proper heir yet. The worst part is that since this happened, I tried giving the defender more power because I had always planned on him becoming Despot of Africa as a distant member of my family, but it didn't seem to help him. He simply doesn't raise any extra troops.

Edit: I gave the bastard 200 gold in gifts and he is not using it to win the war...

Edit 2: I gave him thousands of gold just to see what would happen and he still wouldn't use it. I get a feeling this is a bug. He actually went on to lose the war while fast forwarding with thousands in the bank. This is silly.

If theres big wars going on in the world all the mercenaries might already be bought up by someone else, if thats not the case then yeah its probably a bug of some kind.

They should implement a system from the Game of Thrones mod where if a vassal starts a war on another, the defender can ask his liege to end the war. If the aggresor refuses you could grant a claim on his titles or brand him a traitor, starting a revolt type war against the king by the aggressor.
