I'm wondering if internal intrigue and politics will be covered in the game. Here's what I'm getting at: Marlborough, a phenomenal general, was removed from command because of problems at Court back home. Great ministers with vision and energy were sacked or rendered impotent because they ran afoul of a favorite (Maurepas in France, for example). Patronage and favoritism led to many incompetent marshals and generals obtaining important commands over much more capable, but less well connected, peers. The excellent French marshal Villars, always out of favor to one degree or another, was called from an obscure, minor assignment to assume an important command only because all of the other connected marshals had failed miserably and France was in great peril. I could give more examples but I think you get the idea.
In a perfect world the right personalities will be in key positions. The real world was (and is) very different. It would be frustrating but realistic and fun to have a really effective personality sacked and removed at his prime because of some faux pas.
What do you all think?
