I was playing as my Irish king (basic, I know), and I decided to get myself a new set of armor, so I invited an armorsmith. He arrived at my court, but before the event chain could continue, my ruler died, having been a bit up there in years. Oh well, it happens, I wasn't too fussed since his daughter had good traits too. Still, I wanted that armor, so I waited for the next part of the event chain to fire. It didn't. In hindsight it makes sense considering the chain was for the specific character. I found out I could take the "Search for a Smith" decision again, which I eventually did a bit later since I'm lazy.
The interesting part is that when I checked my court shortly after, the first armorsmith, who usually disappears into the aether after fulfilling his purpose in life, was just kind of...there. Chilling. He couldn't marry or move courts since the game wouldn't let him, but he was just a random courtier with a good Stewardship skill hanging out in my court, where he's stayed for the 20 years since then, currently my Designated Regent. Maybe I'll give him some random county just to see what happens some time.
Not really anything super notable or exciting, just one of those little moments where something unlikely enough happens that there isn't a specifically-designed conclusion to it. Who knows, maybe he's been staying in Ireland for all these years out of loyalty to his late patron. Yeah, I think I'll go with that.
