Interesting Game

I've been playing as France, and I'm up to the 1450s. So far, things are progressing at a rate that by 1492 I could expect to have the territory France actually had in 1492. Some interesting things though...an alliance of Mediterranean nations ganged up on Turkey and took several of their provinces. Byzantium is still thriving and has taken 2 additional provinces. Siena has taken Fierenze, and all of the Papal state provinces but Rome becoming the dominant force in Italy. The Iberian peninsula is a mess and has lost territory to the Moslem nations rather than gaining.

The anti-Turkish gang-up is well known and is probably the problem that is most being focused on in the beta-testing forum. Don't worry, it's getting better...

Odd to hear about the Iberian peninsula. I don't think that is normal at all; just one of the interesting quirks that can pop up from time to time in this wonderfully unpredictable game...

In BiB's AAR, The Teutonic Plague (see the AAR forum), Granada takes all of Iberia. A lot of that AAR is a practical joke the beta testers played on the forum, but it was not all made up. The Iberian thing was not, as I recall.

Like Demetrios says, EU can have some wonderful variations.

I am also playing France and I am in the mid 1460's. I seem to be in the same pace as you as far as having France's territory they had in 1492. Byz is down to one province. The Golden Horde owns a lot of land. Sweden is kickin' ass. Granada is whoopin' Castille, and the Mamaluks own all of from N.E Africa to Iraq/Al-Kir..whatever that name is.
This is too cool.

The beta forum exists and is very active in testing Paradox changes to the game.

Hmm, a couple of weeks ago everybody was complaining that Castille was rolling over the Iberian peninsula like a steamroller. Now it looks like it´s to weak. I wonder if the programmers didn´t overcompensate?

Well, I'm up to the 1460s now...have all of my vassals peacefully annexed. England is out of France. Burgundy is my vassal (from peace settlement). So Brittany and Burgundy are the only two thorns in my side right now. Turkey is really on the ropes...lost territory to Byzantium, Ragusa, and Venice. Iberia looks like it is in a deadlock between Castille, Aragon and Grenada. Italy is still dominated by Siena. Austria is being eaten up by Bavaria and Saxony which are both up to 4-5 provinces.

Why does Turkey get it´s ass kicked every time? Is it because it´s forces are divided by the Bosphorus (or whatever it is called) and they can´t get across?
