Plots are obviously lacking right now but there are plenty of good events so far. Once I can plot the downfall of more than just my significant other I'll be quite happy.

Being able to join active plots, inside and outside my lands, would also be a treat.

Having said that, I am very content with the vanilla version of CK2, which is more than I can say for any of PI newer releases.

I'll definitely agree with the consensus. We need more plots and ambitions more than we need more events.

But I wont say no to more events as well. I think more major multi-event chains like the gate to hell one would be nice. And maybe some more flavorful inter-character events. One of the more lacking aspects of CKII imo is the lack of the Friend/Rival system. Theoretically the opinion system replaces it, but it's cold and mechanical. I know there's a random friend event but it fires extremely rarely and there's not much to it. Having lots of friend and rival events similar to the lover events would be really nice and add a more consistent and organic feel to the character relationships.

I'd say events are pretty good atm.
I don't like the Siege events. If you could make them like in EU3 where some text appears over the siege province window rather than a pop up, that would be amazing (and maybe make some of the siege info buttons a little bigger too :) )

But otherwise, more plots would be nice. Maybe even counter-plots?

There will be new ambitions & plots in each content patch..

We got a system to eliminate spam if we add more events, so it just increases variety.

That makes me happy

About ambitions, does the "become a Paragon of Virtue" ambition causes the callice-chasing events? If it does, I would say that it opens a good opportunity for more ambitions that are open ended and simply serves to add events that are more usefull for specific goals (aka: ambitions). Examples (ambitions -> related events):
- Want a daughter -> Increased fertility, fall in love with your spouse
- Want a son -> Unfortunate "accident" for your old spouse, stressed from not having a heir
- Become Marshal -> Display prowess during battle (gain Brave or Maimed)
- Increase my demesne -> Gain claims on neighbors through underhanded means (gain both claims and bad traits)
- Peace between my vassals -> Increased relations between your vassals, vassals lose claims on each other
- Find the Holy Grail -> Monty Python references, realizes that there is no grail anyway

Some of them (like the last two examples) wouldn't need to have success conditions, as long as the events are balanced to have as much good and bad to them.

I'd like to see the friends/rivals system come back. Right now there's no real equivalent.
Electing a pope should be in the game.

Plots seem like a good way to drive events but right now they are (excepting have a son) pretty much useless. I miss CK1's 'boosh' events like refusing to acknowledge lieges, discovering claims to titles, usury used to be much more challenging etc.

A lot of the events add or take next to nothing. Why would I risk being wounded in a hunt for 5.0 prestige? The temporary effect events likewise add nothing really. Also I must be the only one who thought gateway to hell was just silly.

Im looking forward to more of both but plots need a bit more love at the moment. Top of my list would be a rebellion plot so you can have allied dukes and counts fighting for independence or a ambitious family member with supporters attempting to take the throne. Right now rebellion just feels like a game of wack a mole.

you don't even know how many people are foaming at the mouth for EU4...

Guilty.

I also believe that there needs to be more plots/ambitions but your post revealing that more will be added with patches is enough to placate my appetite. Additionally, I agree with the sentiments that the flow of events right now is PERFECT. My only comment is that the decision related events (summer festival etc) seem to be a bit repetitive. This was a great release on PI's part and more than makes up for past questionable releases (HOI3 I am looking at you).

I think most people are happy with the level of events in CKII because events are the primary (nay, the only) method of creating character and personality in abstract games like EUIII and VicII. CKII has heaps of character already, so we don't feel like we're missing anything.

Also, could we add some intermediary steps to the Ambitions?
Eg:
Ambition: Become Just
MTTH: 50 years
Modifiers:
+ Imprison a noble for a crime, Factor 0.9
- Imprison a noble without cause, Factor 1.5
+Win a vassal's claim on a foreign realm, Factor 0.8
etc. etc.

There is a good amount of flavour events. From reading these forums, despite 50-60 hours played so far I have not seen them all yet (still waiting on that cool sounding gates of hell one).

That said, there literally never can be too many of these kind of events, and the plot/ambition system, while great as a system, lacks a lot of flavour to it.

For me at least, it has something to do with the new commands (and the lack of a master list of all scopes, triggers, etc.) I'm still figuring all that out at the moment--very slowly, I might add, since it's too much fun not to play.

Is this the first game we have made where the community actually thinks the creative content is more than enough?

There is lots of user mods being made, but none making more event-series.. ( some big block mods add events of course)

Not that we want to stop here. We will add several event-series to every content patch...

As for me, fixing the gameplay is - imho - more important then adding new events.
Especially since fixing and balancing stuff means changing a few lines of the code, where event chains require much more time.

I thought about adding different outcomes for, lets say, my newly added "free prisoner" plot, but I would have to create a mindmap on possible action, chracter flags set, effects, etc. - so I just used a success/fail event.
Plus: Event chains are quite prone to errors and bugs - and hunting these down does again take alot of time. And that's the problem for me: I have already spend the whole last week to change stuff, maybe around 60+ hours of modding and testing. I simply have not time for new events until I have fixed all gameplay issues...

In addition, we have not yet any info (like for EU3 or Vicky2) about scope, trigger and effect commands and the actual list of commands is quite limited. :(

The game is certainly in good shape, especially for a new release.

I would love to see more plots too. . .glad to see that's in the works. The event's are good, I intend to do some event modding for my own use but I'm not in a rush due to the initial quality.

Most of the events seem terribly one-sided, I get the feeling some only exist to allow the AI the opportunity to pick one of the bad options to add some flavour to the CK2 world.

After a while you just know which option to pick, especially ones linked to educating children. There is no risk or pay off..

I would add flavour events and decisions basing my knowledge from the demo. For example Burgundy should have events or decisions regarding the Golden Fleece Order, or some festivites where something out of ordinary happens and the news of it arrive to the lord like, ex: harvest festival (where there is a great harvest and everybody is extra happy), lent (somebody discovered that X character eats meat during lent! should we reveal it?), easter or carnival (some people still conserve some pagant customs despite being christian), etc...
Also, more "urban" and "trade centered" zones could get events relation politics or economy like, ex: X city has aproved the creation of a guild bringing new riches, the council demands certain privileges for the city, trade has grown/ diminished during these times of prosperity/war and so we have a positive/negative modifier for X city's income.
Others could be like: a monastery has copied an important book brought by the crusaders, so a new technology was introduced in your realm, more monastic related events, because just now is like if there were no monasteries, etc..., also the possibility of buying indulgencies for family members or even revoke excomunion for deceased family members (growth in prestige and total game points because of piety increase for the deceased).

More plots are indeed also necessary. What if I want to provoke a rebellion inside an enemy realm so they don't attack me? (a la byzantine). What if I want to send missionaries to other lands? Wouldn't it be cool to create your own khight's order?

I'd like to see events that provide an alternative to assassination being the sole way to remove a character. So you could discredit someone causing them to go in to exile or be forced to take monastic vows and 'retire' from the political world.

And crusades...
