I have never played EU RPG, and have no idea if I'd be remotely competent or not given my relative lack of forum-gaming experience, but I was wondering if Iran was free. I know that half the country is cut off by the edge of the map, but having an Iran player could add some interesting pressure on the Ottomans and Russians.

At least if I prove to be wildly incompetent, then it'd be true to life for the late Safavids :p.

(By the way, even if your answer is "no" to the above, I feel bound to point out that Basra was under Iranian occupation in 1700.)

Funny enough I have RP'd the following challenge for the Ottomans to deal with;

Link to post in the Ottoman Court
; "Lords, I come bearing news that requires to intervention of the Porte. A palace disturbance in Isfahan has brought Prince Abbas to power; no longer are lesser men in command of Shah Soltan Hosayn's affairs. Upon the Shah's brother taking power as regent, he has had the Shah confined to his pleasure palace--where he will serve as a figurehead for the rest of his days--and has had the former regent, their Great Aunt Maryam Begum, exiled to Kandahar. We are now feeling the affects of this disturbance in the Padishah's lands between the two rivers.

"Our Master's Wali for the Two Rivers, Ali Pasha, has been imprisoned by his Mamulks for cavorting with Prince Abbas. We have brought their correspondence here to verify these serious accusations. Our Master's servant Hasan Pasha 'the Georgian' has temporarily assumed command and none to soon for the Persians have sent 16,000 men to raid the lands between Baghdad and Basra. They under the control of the Persian Shah's vassal, Gurgan Khah (George XI of Kartil.) I do not know if this portends a larger invasion but for now Our Master's servants in the Two Rivers ask for the guidance of the Porte in this issue. We have not the strength alone to match the Persians man-for-man if this be the prelude to another war."

If you're willing to continue that arc and flesh out the Safavids, i'm willing to approve you for Safavid Iran. I think this wouldn't be the first time it's played on an EURPG, though.

Ooh, that sounds very interesting. Being able to take control of a possibly-slightly-less-impotent late Safavid state would suit me nicely. Sign me up :).

Yes, been playing games like Victoria, Europa Universalis, CIV, CK II for years. And would like a nation in Germany or Italy, just curious what is still available.
The Palatine, Genoa, or Tuscany might be interesting choices. Let me know what you think and do check out our EURPG subforum to see what's been done in game so far.

The Palatine will work perfectly thank you. Will start researching and checking the current subforum. Are Palatinate stats available so I know what I am working with economically and militarily?
