Interceptor Upgrade.

Hello, I'm playing the Germany '44 scenario and I'm wondering about upgrading the interceptors. I would like to upgrade the rocket ones to 1944 turbojets and the 1943 ones to 1944 turbojets without having to go thru the rocket versions. Is this possible and if so, how?

You have to go through the regular order model 5(1943) to 6(1941 Rocket)to 7(1943 rocket) to 8(1944). There is a reason for favouring MRF from 1943 on. Since for each outdated upgrade step is only 1/4 of the regular costs it can be still cheaper to use Int instead of MRF, just research is a bit ugly.

i thought "changing models" upgrade cost is not lowered with being more obsolete. for example upgrading larm3 to arm3 costs the same (1/4) no matter your arm tech is on lvl3 or lvl5... i wonder if it's the case with rocket interceptors or not. [rock ints are not treated as another model by game engine, tough]

it's still a little odd and confusing you can research turbojet int(8) but unable to upgrade your adv int(5) if u have skipped the rocket model's(6 and 7) researches. Imo either make lvl5 ints upgradeable to lvl8 OR make the turbojet interceptor prerequisite the advanced rocket interceptor.

It only works within one model line. Upgrading larm3 is this one exception.

Quick question please. Does this become available once you upgrade you're LArm to lvl3 or if not how do you trigger it? I can't remember having seen this before and in my current game had left them at lvl 1 with the plan of scrapping them once I had enough full Arm. However this sounds like a good way of making use of those units.

LArm3 can be upgraded to Arm3. That is the only option.

Thanks for the quick reply but that doesn't actually relate to my question. Is it an automatic option for the unit once its upgraded to LArm3 or do you have to do something to trigger the possibility. I.e. a certain level of technology? [Other than the obvious LArm3 and Arm3 of course].

Well you need the techs for larm3 and arm3. Once the upgrade to larm3 is done the upgrade to Arm3 can and will occur unless you prevent it. So it is sort of "automatic" like upgrading larm2 to larm 3.
